A Surprise Birthday Cake for Daddy’s Birthday Brunch
We are currently in Melaka to celebrate my Dad’s birthday. His birthday was on the 11th but it falls on a weekday with the kids still in school so we had to celebrate a bit later. I choose to bring him to Hotel Equatorial Melaka for their Jazzy Sunday Brunch as I really loved it when we dined here last month. The price is pretty reasonable too especially since both my parents are senior citizens.
Adult | RM68nett (without beer) | RM98nett (with free flow of beer) |
Senior Citizen | RM34nett (without beer) | RM64nett (with free flow of beer) |
Child | RM34nett | – |
I did blog about the Jazzy Sunday Brunch experience. You can read it here.
We had a very nice catch-up; enjoying the delicious food over live relaxing Jazz numbers when the lovely people of Hotel Equatorial Melaka alerted me that they have a surprise birthday cake for my Dad. My immediate reaction was WOW that is so sweet of them.
I quickly prepared my phone and camera to get it all recorded. I wouldn’t want to miss a single moment of it.
My surprised parents when they sang and presented the birthday cake to my Dad.
My Dad blushing like a little boy  Look at Ayden happily clapping along with the rest.
He made a wish and blew out the flame off the candle. Ayden kept exclaiming that his grandpa is only a year old (coz only ONE candle)!Â
My Dad cutting his beautiful birthday cake.
How sweet is this; my mom feeding my Dad the birthday cake ♥
My parents with the person who made it all possible – Marcom Manager, Dato Chris Murray.
Besides being extremely busy this weekend with a state dinner, which was organized by Melaka State Government that was held at the Hotel Equatorial Melaka, in conjunction with H.E The Governor of Melaka’s 79th birthday celebration, coupled with a treasure hunt event by the Melaka Cancer Society, Dato Chris still make the time to personally greet my parents as well as surprised them with that birthday cake. My parents were visibly moved by his very thoughtful gesture.
One for the album ♥
My parents enjoyed the lamb chop from the grill counter.
Lamb chops prepared just the way we like it topped with mushroom and mint sauce.
The ever smiley chef doing the grilling for diners.
I’m glad my parents enjoyed the brunch as much as we did. Most importantly, the team from Hotel Equatorial Melaka managed to carve the biggest smile on my father’s face.
It is rare to see my father smiling so freely and broadly; this picture is priceless.
Here is the video of this priceless moment. Thank you Hotel Equatorial Melaka for making my Dad’s birthday brunch much more memorable ♥
By the way, they have a huge and beautiful Kolam for Deepavali at the Lobby area:
Gorgeous isn’t it? According to the hotel, the artist took 6 hours to complete this. To me, that is a record breaking feat.Â
Happy Deepavali to all our lovely readers ♥
I like Robert’s shirt, nice prints! William should get one too. Hmmm…so which did he have, with or without beer? Happy birthday again, Robert! And hello, Lilian!
Happy Birthday to the birthday boy! Looks like it was a feast. That seems like a reasonable price, especially if you drink a lot of beer.
A very sweet surprise birthday treat for your daddy. Such a loving couple, your mum and dad.
The kolam of the peacock was so beautiful.
Happy Deepavali! And happy holiday to you and family. Wish you all a great time in Melaka.
Wah a full size cake some more! Usually even if got surprise birthday cake at buffet places/restaurants also those small muffins with 1 candle only. Nice!
Happy belated birthday to your father! He must be the happiest man on earth that day.
