Homeschooling Ayden – Belajar Mengeja dan Membaca
It’s been a week since I last updated my blog. Our entire nation is having ELECTION fever and now that we have created history and have a brand new government, all eyes are glued on our handphones for constant updates. I checked my Whatsapp and various news portals every 5 minutes till I have no time nor interest to blog as I doubt anyone is keen to read anything other than our country’s political updates […]

Homeschool Activity for Toddlers: Painting
As you may know, Ayden is home-schooled. I did the same with the elder brother until he is ready to go to Primary One in a public school. I intend to do the same with Ayden. I am thankful that I have the luxury of time to guide my kids during their formative years. It requires a lot of discipline to homeschool a child. If I am lazy, my kid won’t be doing much hence […]

Craft for Children: Footprint Popsicle
It has been a while since our last arts and crafts project. Today’s project is making paper popsicle out of the boy’s footprint. Ayden can’t do much here so Ethan assisted him when it comes to tracing and cutting. Materials needed are coloured paper, popsicle stick, glue, pencil and a pair of scissors. Big brother Ethan helped trace Ayden’s footprint. He also helped to cut it out. Ayden is able to apply glue onto the […]

Homeschooling the Toddler: Reading Progress at 2Y9M
If you don’t already know, I am homeschooling Ayden. I intend to homeschool him throughout his preschool years. I did the same for big brother Ethan but I may send Ayden to a year of preschool for socialising before going to Primary One. I don’t know, let’s see how it goes. Ayden learns a lot at home. We do many things together from art to Math, to reading and skill learning such as cooking and […]

Homeschooling the Toddler: Making Fresh Orange Juice & Soya Cincau Jelly
It is the two weeks school holidays at the moment but we are not going anywhere just yet as big brother Ethan will be sitting for his piano exam tomorrow. Homeschooling activity carries on as usual for Ayden. Our focus this week is in the kitchen as I spend most of my time in here cooking both lunch and dinner during the holidays. Yeah, enough of outside food for a while. Let them have some […]

Touch Me Not
When I was just a little kid, I remember being highly fascinated by the reaction of this unique plant called Mimosa pudica or Touch Me Not upon contact. I love looking for it and touching it to see the leaves closing and waited patiently for them to open up again only to touch them again to see them close. I can do this the entire day without getting bored. We go to the playground almost every […]

Drawing on walls
I left him there barely a minute just to go into the kitchen to wash my hands. I came out to see this: Argh! He ‘conteng-ed’ the wall! Reprimanded him and asked him where else he conteng and he steady only show me ALL his ‘artwork’. There were some on the floor too! Why oh why? Big brother Ethan has NEVER, I repeat NEVER vandalized our walls but this little creature did today! Thank goodness […]

Ayden’s Reading Progress @ 19 months and Some Random Updates
It’s 1st of April 2015. Things will never be the same again after today with the implementation of GST but I’m not going to talk about that as I am no expert in this issue. I shall wait and see how this will affect my family’s expenditure. In preparation for GST, I resumed teaching. I am now giving private tuition again at night in my house. I’m so thankful I still have students eventhough I’ve […]

Outdoor Learning Activity for Toddlers
Big brother Ethan is still feverish hence he skipped school again today. In the evening, the weather was very beautiful; sunny and windy so I brought them to the playground for some fresh air and sunshine. After spending about half an hour playing on the playground equipments, I introduced a simple color learning activity for Ayden. It is always fun to learn outdoors as the resources are endless. For today’s activity, I suggested for the […]

Homeschooling a Toddler – Reading Activity
The reason I prefer to homeschool Ayden than to send to playschool is because I can guide him as and when he is most comfortable and feels like it. This is especially important during reading session as it will be almost impossible to teach a toddler when he is sleepy and cranky. At 16 months old, reading is not limited to word cards though I use mostly wordcards for our reading lessons. I introduced word cards […]

Homeschooling a Toddler – Colour Sorting
Continuation from our first homeschool activity of beading/threading, we are going to proceed with the second activity a toddler can do at home today. It is never too early to expose a toddler to the world of colours. If you watch your toddler closely, you’ll discover that he/she will usually have a preference towards a particular colour. Always start with that colour to capture his interest. My 16 month old Ayden loves playing with building […]

Homeschooling a Toddler – Beading Activity
It’s the second day of school for the big brother Ethan and Ayden is left alone at home with me. Now that Ayden is 16 months old, I can start ‘homeschooling’ him just like what I’ve done with the elder brother years ago. By ‘homeschooling’ I mean keeping Ayden occupied by giving him lots of playtime to improve his fine motor skills. Parents these days have all the luxury to splurge on their kids when […]
