The Last Ramadan Dinner Buffet at Seri Nyonya, Hotel Equatorial Melaka
Hotel Equatorial Melaka needs no introduction. Located in the heart of Melaka just across Dataran Pahlawan, it is within walking distance to Jonker Street, A Famosa and several other famous attractions at UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This is also our first time having Peranakan inspired buka puasa buffet dinner. So wonderfully unique from the many buka puasa dinners we have experienced.
I love the meticulous decor and food presentation. It feels so at home dining here.
I even got Dato Chris to pose with the many Nyonya bakul siahs around.
We were serenaded by this local band who has been returning to the hotel every Ramadan for years. They too have grown tremendously with the hotel.
The buffet spread features many action stations. One of it being the celebrated roast lamb.
Murtabak, roti canai, roti john and more are made fresh at the station by this ever smiling cheerful chef.
The kids’ favourite, Ayam Pongteh.
It is braised chicken in bean paste with Chinese mushroom and potato. This is the ONLY Nyonya dish that I can proudly declare I know how to cook. The gravy is thick enough to my liking with the potatoes nicely soft and has absorbed the gravy well.
Ayam Pongteh goes extremely well with sambal belacan.
I love the appetising Telur Masak Acar Rampai
Tauhu Sumbat
Nyonya Pie Tee (Top Hats)
Pai Tee is an appetizer made with a savory, crispy thin fried shell stuffed with thinly sliced stir-fry yam bean and vegetables.
Ingredients for Pie Tee. We get to DIY our Pie Tee here.
My favourite corner has got to be the many varieties of ikan goreng masin accompanied by selections of sambal belacan, cincalok, cili asam and many more. A spread like these will definitely whet one’s appetite.
Fans of pickled stuffs will love these.
Satay Celup
I headed straight to the local dessert counter as I simply can’t resist local kuih-muih. They are such a pleasure to munch on while catching up with my good friend.
Fried popiah and samosa are simply irresistible. Dipped in the special sauce, I had an entire plate of them as I usually frequent Ramadan bazaars just to purchase them.
Popiah and Teh Tarik are match made in heaven.
Assorted of inviting cold drinks to quench our thirst.
Cendol and ais kacang for a cool finish.
Seri Nyonya’s FINAL Balik Kampung Buffet Fiesta is happening now until 4 June 2019.
Come one, come all for the final Buka Puasa dinner at Hotel Equatorial Melaka before they bid goodbye on the 30 June 2019. Call 06-282 8333 for reservation.
So many choices, so much food to enjoy. Geez. Such pity thay they are closing down. I even bookmark it if I ever visit Melaka again. Look like no chance now.
Sad, eh? Many many many years ago, I dropped by there for drinks and to listen tio the live band playing.
why is the hotel closing down? so sad. are they going to be demolished and replace by a new building?
You looked stunning in that Kebaya outfit!
I visited this hotel in Melaka once and thought it was nice to stay but it was fully booked then.
Maybe they have sold to another hotel chain. Last week I went to Cameron Highlands to stay at Copthorne Hotel which bought over from Equatorial Group. They refurbished the whole hotel nicely and it was a pleasant surprise to us. Over the years we have been staying at that very dated and moldy smelling rooms.
