Chinese New Year Angpow Lantern

It’s time to dig out your ang pow packets and make Chinese New Year decorations again because before you know it, Chinese New Year will appear right in front of you :)

Though I’ve always used only angpow packets for my decorations, today’s decor requires one additional item though. We’ll need toilet paper rolls to make this lantern.

I used big toilet paper rolls instead of the normal small ones as this will make a bigger and rounder lantern.

Glue angpow wrapper to cover the TP Roll. I used red craft paper instead coz it’s easier.

For the outer layer, I used only the front part of angpow wrappers. Using a knife, I cut lines, leaving about a cm on both top and bottom of the angpow wrapper.

Stick it to the TP roll. I need 3 pieces of angpow wrapper to cover the entire roll.

Once done, tie a gold string through it so you can hang it. An ornament tail will make this red packet lantern nicer too.

Wow! That is early! But I also took off my xmas decor and started shopping for cny decor yesterday. Haha. See if in mood or have free times, will try make this lovely lantern of yours.

My mom used to make these type of DIY lanterns too, I helped her once for awhile, and quickly got relegated to watching her on the sidelines XD
