Mango and durian feast
My parents have these two beautiful shady mango trees in their backyard where we always hang out at.
That was Ethan (not Ayden) when he was 6 months old under that very same mango tree.
He will be turning 7 this July. Time flies and this year, we are blessed with plentiful harvest from both trees. Ethan being the city kid has never plucked mangoes in his life.
He saw the Grandpa doing it and he wants to try too.
He was expecting to use that pole the Grandpa was using but instead was given the ladder to climb and pluck the mangoes by hand. This boy of mine dislikes fruits. He doesn’t eat fruit and will not touch fruit if he can help it. Here he is seen plucking ONE sole mangoes by hand after which he quickly got down from the ladder and ran away.
The Grandpa eventually allowed him to use the pole and happily he tried plucking some mangoes.
Whooosh! One mango dropped right into the net.
He was so excited plucking mangoes that way that he wants to try again and again.
And again! My father bought this pole from a man who went around door to door. He saw my father’s mango trees and approached my father to buy the pole from him. My father is very happy with this pole that can extend up to 5 metres. It has 2 hooks on the side of the net and one blade at the end. It makes plucking mangoes so much easier.
Ayden wanted to feel the mango too after watching all the fun.
At night, my mom wrapped some mangoes for me to bring home. She even wrapped some for my in-laws as I will be dropping by their place before heading home. Just look at the mangoes I got! One full bag and those that Ayden was playing with too!
Look at my dad smiling so sweetly. Haha. He was actually smiling at Ayden. I was carrying Ayden while taking this picture of my mom cutting mangoes.
She kept those cut mangoes in the fridge for us to eat anytime we feel like it. She kept on cutting and refilling the container making sure it is always full as William and I kept eating and eating and eating. Ayden loves mangoes too. Ethan on the other hand won’t go anywhere near it.
Besides mangoes, we also got to feast on durians!
I went back hometown at the right time lah. Got durians and mangoes in abundance!
My father fed Ayden some durian and that boy loves it! He kept wanting more and more! Again as for Ethan, he wont get anywhere near it >_<
What lovely kids you have….come, come, make some more! See your father so happy!!! Aiyor…so small eat durian already kah?
Make some more? Macam playing with playdoh kah? Haha.
Ayden ate a bit only durian… Not the entire biji :D
Lol …Ethan same as hern hern. He will run away from fruits and worse still , vegetables ! He’s carnivorous ! Both your boys are so cute … haha … and can I have some of the mangoes ? :(
But at least Ethan still eats his veges (for now). Haiz. Frustrating that he doesnt like fruits. So sweet and delicious but he doesnt want >_<
You can plant a mango tree in your house too since you live at a landed property :P
Kenot la. Landed with so limited land. Papaya can la but I’m not a fan of that.
Wahhhhh so syiok!
I miss having mango fruit trees (or any fruit trees) in our backyard. *sob sob*
I cant even successfully grow tomatoes in my porch :(
Ehhh… i thought you are coming to Penang instead ?
I oso tot like that. Lol! No worries. I’ll sure sampai Penang one of these days and you’ll be the FIRST to know :D
I love mango!! But not easy to grow the trees ourselves I guess…
i’m not a durian fan.. i can’t stomach the smell! strange because i’m born bred malaysian, haha. the backyard looks so nice & green.. LOVE! i’d really really love to own big enough house grounds to grow trees & cultivate my own garden in future, too. (a girl can dream!)
oh & yeah, Bay and i did Escape Room last weekend.. we picked based on what looked interesting & turns out; we got the hardest room. LOL!! we’re trying again this weekend but somewhere else & a different room. it’s so fun! you & your family should give it a go (:
Oh, the mangoes are green skin ones? How to tell if it’s ripe?
Haha no. They’re yellow when ripe. In a day or two they’ll turn yellow :)
