The Mix : Valentine’s Day Set Menu @ RM90++

We first fell in love with The Mix, Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie back in Oct 2011 when we celebrated our Wedding Anniversary there. We love the ambiance, the food, the people…

The Mix will be serving Valentine’s day special menu this year. For those of you in the dark, Valentine’s day falls on the 14th February this year. In fact, it falls on the 14th of February EVERY year so don’t tell me you don’t know when is Valentine’s day! :P

We are privileged to celebrate Valentine’s day ahead of 14 Feb this time around :D

So there we are at The Mix that lovely Friday evening and the moment we stepped foot into the chic interior, memories of our Anniversary dinner came flashing in my mind <3 Guess what? We managed to secure the exact same seat we had back in Oct 2011. That very same table at the very same spot… ooooh… Deja vu!

The table setting simply sweeps me off my feet. The candle with a heart made of chenille stem makes a lovely center piece.

Soft and velvety rose petals are strewn onto the table adding romance to our dinner.

As I got comfortable on my seat, I heard the song ‘Power of Love’ being played and I knew that tonight is going to be just GREAT! Lovey-dovey songs are played throughout the night setting the ambiance to a lovely level of mushiness <3

The Valentine’s day special includes a glass of wine or a glass of juice. Darling took the wine while I chose to have juice instead. I want to stay sober to enjoy the rest of the night :P

Oh yeah, by now you should know that ROMANCE means having Ethan around at all times! :D He being the understanding boy that night, decided to be our official photographer.

He even chose to sit apart from us, pushing me and Darling to be seated closer together! ^_^

Alright, let’s take a look at our lovely meal now, shall we?

We started off with the Moroccan Grilled Chicken Salad. A toss of tomato, celery, cucumber, coriander, apricot and mint this paves the perfect experience for the night. Being a fan of sourish stuffs, this salad goes well with Darling and I. It is really appetizing and I cleared my plate in no time. The tender grilled chicken compliments the salad best.

Next on the menu is Wild Mushroom Soup. The thing about having soup is you’ve got to down it while it is still hot as cold soup just doesn’t make the cut. Here at The Mix, the wild mushroom soup is served on a heated soup bowl thus keeping the soup warm for a very long time. We need not rush to finish our soup. We took slow sips of the thick and delicious broth while listening to “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You” being played in the air.

For the main course, we are to choose either the Atlantic Grilled Salmon and Baked Black Cod or the Oven Baked Cajun Chicken Roulade and New Zealand Rack of Lamb.

The fish person in me instantly picked the Atlantic Grilled Salmon and Baked Black Cod. Served with sauteed spinach and asparagus with garlic mashed potato. It was paired so lovely, with half salmon, half cod combined to make it whole! Aww… When I first saw how it is served I simply went weak. Cupid couldn’t strike better than this!

Darling had the Oven Baked Cajun Chicken Roulade and New Zealand Rack of Lamb. He shared some with me and I simply love the chicken roulade! I am surprised at how tender the lamb is too! The rosemary shitake juice sauce served on the side is simply delightful. I drizzled it over the chicken and lamb and had a blast with this combo!

For dessert we had the Fudge Brownie Melt. Extremely rich and melts in our mouth, this is sinfully delicious it brings out the ‘devil’ in us :P

Coupled with a scoop of peppermint ice-cream, I’m at an all time high by now!

While we had all of the above, we ordered for Ethan a plate of Spaghetti. That boy and his spaghetti makes the best pair ever! <3

Ethan enjoyed the live band Zynchro throughout the night. It was such a beautiful night we went home extremely happy.

The Valentine’s Day Set Menu at The Mix is priced at RM90++ only per person and comes with a stalk of rose for that special someone :)
