Daddy’s 70th Birthday Celebration
My father turned 70 years young last Saturday. We celebrated his birthday at home in Malacca.
My Dad with all of us <3
My mother, with the help of my eldest sister made red eggs, taufufah and jellies for the dinner while the rest of the food are catered.

Five Spice Roll
Sambal Sotong Petai
Ginger Steamed Scallop
Honey Braised Spare Ribs
Marmite Sauce Pig Trotter
Thai Style Fish Fillet
Mixed Vege
Birthday Bun
The food is ready so let’s welcome the guests. I was the unofficial photographer that evening with one hand carrying Ayden and another hand carrying my camera. I did not manage to take pictures of all the guests as I disappeared from time to time to tend to Ayden…
Daddy’s navy friends and also uncle Harry there. This is a truly lasting friendship. They go way back from bachelor days and most of them attended all my sisters’ and my wedding. Some of them drove all the way from Johor, KL and everywhere just to attend Daddy’s birthday bash.
Another one with Uncle David (back row, far left) and Aunty Annette (back row, far right) included.
Daddy with Jackie, Uncle Steven’s daughter.
Uncle Steven, my mother and Jackie.
Me and my sisters with Uncle Steven. That’s how close we are to Daddy’s navy buddies. They were already in my father’s life before we were born! Pictures stolen from Jackie’s Facebook. Hehe.
Daddy’s guests, young and old, from our beloved relatives to his navy buddies and co-workers, we appreciate all who attended. Some I did not manage to get your pictures but we truly appreciate your attendance.
After all the makan-makan and merry making, it’s time to cut the birthday cake.
Daddy and mummy with his 70th beer themed birthday cake.
Daddy drinking from the gigantic mug :P
From left to right: Uncle Siva, Uncle Han, Uncle Steven, Uncle Lau Heng, Daddy and Uncle Mah.
It was so nice to see Daddy reunited with his navy buddies and having so much fun. Uncle Siva drove all the way from Puchong with Aunty Siva while Uncle Lau Heng and Uncle Mah came from Johor and drove back to JB after that dinner! Uncle Steven and his daughter Jackie came from Nilai and drove back home that night too.
Daddy playing ol’ school ceper :D
My sexy cousin Jill, helped to distribute the cake. Her pose ala Octoberfest. Haha!
Last but not least, here’s my parents playing a game initiated by my cousin’s hubby, Daniel. My Dad played it well, sealing it with a kiss! Muacks! :DÂ
Happy Birthday Daddy! Stay healthy and happy always. With lots of love from all of us <3
We would also like to wish a big thank you to all of you who attended my father’s birthday dinner. My father’s birthday clashes with many wedding dinners that evening yet many took the trouble to attend even after the dinner. Thank you, thank you very much.
Awesome post Merryn! :)
I like the red birthday eggs, it’s a tradition that’s almost gone in this generation, nice to see people keeping it up.
