School Holiday Project: Stamping Art
Ethan is having almost 2 weeks of school holidays and I’m already losing track of the days of the week. It happens when we are too free and need not remember what day it is today unlike during school days when every Monday means SPELLING, Wednesdays means EJAAN and Thursdays means TING XIE.
We did not go out of town as we dread the heavy traffic jam so I kept Ethan occupied at home. We try to go swimming in the evenings at every opportunity we get and so far we managed twice during the past 4 days.
Earlier today before we go swimming in the evening, I did a stamping art activity with Ethan. I was actually cutting okras for lunch when I find this very old okra and decided to use it doing artwork with Ethan. I sliced it and present it in front of Ethan. That boy was stunned not knowing what to do with those sliced okras! Creativity fail! >_<
I showed Ethan what we can do with those okra and immediately he started stamping away :)
He decided to make a flower garden and so he did.
I made him use plastic gloves as I don’t know about you but I find that my hands itch each time they are in contact with raw okras. My guess is my hands are sensitive towards those fine hairs on okras so to be safe, I get Ethan to protect his hands with gloves.
Ethan used ice-cream stick for the stem.
For the cloud and sun, he used carrot.
Ethan happily showing off his art work. It was his first time doing stamping art and he loves it.
Oh yeah, how do you tell if an okra is too old and tough to be eaten?
I’ll usually bend the tip (or some of you refers it as the end) of the okra and if they break easily means they are still edible but if they don’t break no matter how you bend it, means they are simply too old and tough. Use those for your artwork.
Now.. let me plan what to do with Ethan for the rest of the week :)
He is so creative. Gwen did this at school. :)
Toothbrush and combs try before? :)
Yep, it’s the school holidays, it’s good to involve the kids in arts!
Beautiful art. Nice to keep your child occupied during holiday. :)
Nice art, should do this with my kids too.
My son spent his time ‘talking to himself/acting as a cartoon character that he loves/talking to his little brother who knows nothing’ Pity him though…
