In the absence of kindergarten
Good morning peeps! How was your weekend? Ours was a very hectic one. Our Saturday was spent in the Studio, then straight to my eye check-up and the rest of the day was havoc running from one school to another scouting for dance and drum lessons!
Ethan playing Guitar Hero
Ethan has been pestering us to sign him up for drum, dance and even guitar lessons. Where in the world he got all those interest from, I don’t know! But I do know that drum has been his primary interest since like forever but we managed to persuade him to learn the piano instead. Though he is enjoying every bit of his piano lessons and loves playing the piano during his free time, he still insists to learn the drum especially after he played Guitar Hero last week (by Guitar Hero i meant he also played the DRUM!).
We went to this particular music academy nearby Ethan’s Mandarin class to find out more about drum lessons but was horrified at how HECTIC everything seems to be. Kids and parents going in and out like clock work. Tick tock, tick tock they all looked like zombies checking in and out of classes! Whatever happened to the passion and the joy of learning music? What I see is more like people rushing in, then teachers rushing them out before the next student rushed in again. Forget about it, we are not going THERE!
Not much luck with dancing lessons too. There is this dancing school above his Mandarin class but they are only open during the weekend. Weekend is family time!! And then he is only keen on hip hop and when he saw people dancing the waltz, it just doesn’t fascinate him. Where do I find hip hop lessons-lah??! Sometimes I feel like telling him, just go around and HOP LIKE A FROG!! >_<
I don’t even wan’t to mention swimming. He already pestered us until no more saliva for that but we have yet find the time to slot that into our routine..
I guess all these are the effect of Ethan still not going to kindergarten despite the fact that he is FIVE by year. He has too much free time in his hands that he gets bored just playing the hours away…
Aren’t bad he has many free time because he is not attend any kindergarten. Compared to others he has more free time to enjoy his childhood before flood by all the homework, test, pressure from primary school.
Yeah Vicky, quite true but the parents can gila trying to run here n there with him..
If you have found a school that offer drum lesson…buzz me. Drum only..LOL!!!
OMG! Ur gals are into DRUMS?!!
Big E.
OK I can imagine that already! Haha..
mum.. why not sending ethan to kindergarten?
and btw he’s matured enough to know what he wanna learn.
back then we just know nothing. =.=
Son, becoz I was a kindy teacher before I got Ethan so I don’t quite like to confine kids to classroom learning at such a young age…
Great! Anytime better than kids addicted top online games. He looks so at home with the guitar – think he has a natural flair. I wish I had the chance to learn to play music when I was young…. :(
Yes Arthur, I’m thankful that he is not hooked on online games too. I’m glad the playground still fascinates him :)
Attending activity like music, sports and dance are definitely healthier than watching TV and playing games on computer.
as for both of my kids, i was their private kindy teacher for the first few yrs. although hectic for me, but i enjoyed every moment of it. u have to ‘generate’ enough activities for your little boy fr the academic point. once he is getting n enjoying it, he will eventually stop going after you for this n that. it will fill up part of his playing time…
Guitar eh… must be a future rock star
Wow, so Ethan won’t be going to kindergarten at all? :O Since he will be going to primary school by the age of 7. It’s good that he seems to be having interest in learning so many things unlike some kids nowadays only stick to the tv/laptop/ipad and laze around whole day!
Is it Music ProAcademy? If your child plans to take up a music instrument class there, be prepared for 3 classes per week. I feel that 1-2 lessons a week is sufficient. Unless the child plans to pursue music seriously. If not, very kesian lah.
Ethan is such a lively and active boy and his interests are super cool! :)
My Son only went to kindie when he was 5. Before that, he did his “learning” with Mommy dearest. ^^
I already sent Nicole to kindy when she was only 2! Not sure if that’s a good move but I find that she learnt lots of stuffs since then. Maybe the gorgeous teachers were good too!
Swimming is a very good exercise, need to find time jor!
Wah…hebat lah Ethan. He can handles so many extra activities ah. Gwen is getting lazy. Even hinting to me she doesn’t want to go Bao Bei anymore…horror. Ask her want to learn piano or not, she says tak mau. Arts also tak mau. Now she wants to quit her taekwondo class.
Ada tips to motivate her ah, sifu?
Fuh! Gwen goes to taekwondo??! How can she wanna quit BaoBei? I heard from Ethan it is so much fun there?
Anyway, I dunno leh. Maybe when Ethan is Gwen’s age he’ll be lazy too?
Good that Ethan has so many good hobbies.
fuyoh!! Guitar hero eh? pro boy!! =P
Sam like hip-hop (or free style?) dancing too, definitely will engage her to a dancing class soon :)
Cool la your Ethan boy. Hip hop! Terkejut I. It’s really good that he has a lot of interest in many things. But headache for you lar. hahaha.
