Eye ulcer
I was away last weekend right? I wore my contact lens the entire day that day from 8am till 10pm coz I did not bring along the contact lens case and liquid as they are both in Darling’s car. Darling met me up in Chin Swee later at night after his work.
The next day I noticed a white dot on my right cornea.
Can you see the white dot? I dunno how to photograph it. It’s clearer in the mirror but somehow did not appear on camera..
I thought little parts of the contact lens got stuck on my eyes but when I checked my lens they are still good with no visible hole in it. The next day my eyes became very red. I decided to get it checked today.
Fifteen minutes into examination, the doctor told me we’re facing a medical emergency as I’m suffering from an ulcer on my cornea. We need to get it treated immediately before it penetrates my cornea. I asked what happens if it penetrates and he answers, “blindness”. I think I died that instant.. :'(
The doc assures me that we will get through this but he forbids me from wearing contact lens for the months to come. He also instructed me to get off my PC and whatever and rest my eyes as much as possible.
He prescribed Vigamox to be dripped into my eye every 2 hourly today before we start on Steroid treatment tomorrow. It stings a little but I’m dripping it religiously every other hour just as instructed.
The doc also gave me Ponstan in case the pain becomes unbearable. I have yet to need it. *touch wood*
I’ve been good and stayed off the PC the entire of today and slept quite a lot during the day. Ethan has been good too, entertaining himself while I napped.
Tomorrow, I’ll be seeing the doc again and if things is as expected, we’ll be starting steroid treatment on my eye. I should go to sleep now but I’ve slept so much during the day, I just can’t sleep now.
I better close and rest my eyes nevertheless..

Hi merryn, sorry to hear that. Just to share with you that I had eye ulcer on my right eye in 2000, right smack in the middle, and it was so bad my eye teared in pain with every blink. I kid you not. It was due to some bacteria in my contact lens. Doc also said can cause blindness and i was admitted for a week. Hope you get well soon.
better take a good rest..we need our eyes..
I also have eye problem because of Contact Lense, thats why nowaday i don’t dare to wear Contact Lense although wear spec is ulgy, i don’t want to become blind.
One of my eye’s corneo scratched cause by Contact Lense, I see everything is blur, so scary.
Ponstan is a strong pain killer…
Get well soon….
why u so naughty, buy a new specs lah~~~
NO WEAR CONTACT LENS ANYMORE..
Get well soon, Merryn!!! :)
I think it’s most important to keep extremely clean hands before handling contact lenses, always have a contact lens case and some solution handy and to regulate the timing for wearing. Too long hours could be bad on your eyes because it’s hard for your eyes to “breathe”. At least that’s what I was told. :/
Omg so scary!!!! :( But luckily u saw it early so now is treatable right?
Luckily it was so red that I looked like a monster and had to go check it out.. Or else I wont know how serious this is..
