Blogging for FUN? Think again..
Most of us started blogging innocently to pen our daily happenings, milestones, personal rantings and more while there are those who started blogging professionally and then there are those who blogs politically.
While I love the freedom of speech here in my very own blog, the recently passed Evidence (Amendment) (No 2) Act 2012, whereby internet users are held liable for any content posted through their registered networks or data processing device, is SCARY!
It’s not limited to only blogging as your Facebook, Twitter and any social media accounts are accountable. If an anonymous person posts content said to be offensive on your Facebook wall, leave offensive and provoking comments in your blog, you will be immediately deemed the publisher of the content and subject to prosecution under the relevant laws such as the Sedition Act.
What bugs me is that if a person startsĀ a blog in your name and publishes content that is red-flagged, you will be considered the publisher unless you can prove otherwise. Come on, don’t they know how easy it is to start a blog before they pass this law? Any Tom, Dick and Harry out there can start a blog in any Dick’s name for goodness sake!
While criminals in the real world are innocent until proven guilty, internet users as the owner of a site or device is presumed guilty and has to fight to prove his innocence!
It’s super easy to frame anyone through the cyber world now isn’t it?
Read more about the amendment to the Evidence Act here.
Haiz, seems like they don’t really think first before approving the law huh
wow.. I never thought of this and yet, my face is everywhere.. =_=’
Habis lah you Aki. You’ll be charged for getting rid of your afro! :P
OMG… then does it means I can’t say bad things about cars now huh?
Esp our national car! Haha :P
Oh no, gotta be careful next time XD
No more Pervert yo! Must say Precious dy! ^_^
Wow. Guilty until proven innocent. *shakes head*
In that case, we shall all just post pics of cute kitties and puppies. Or maybe those also will offend some ppl? lol
I may kena from this :P
oh well, dont care!
Yeah you and your “Imma purple barney” remarks.. nvm, if you kena, we’ll always be happy to visit you behind bars *got material to blog then* :P
Make sure you have your privacy settings…and you make friends with the right people. People should be responsible at all times…and not post things as they wish.
I’ve unfriended MANY – I do believe I have a brain and I am quite capable of thinking and making my own mind – no need for anybody to come and spam my wall and try to push their convictions down my throats. Get lost, blardy hell!
I understand that part but what I don’t get is if anyone starts a blog in our name, we are to be held responsible.. now, does that make any sense?
…and I’ve delgated some comments in my blog to TRASH or SPAM too!
*delegated
You are the blog owner. Trash anything that does not look right.
well to find out if is easy to frame someone, let’s try on submerryn. see if it would sinks! AHHAHAHA just kidding mum! ;)
Son, you are so gonna get it from me this time! :P
Veron from Quay Po Cooks reminded me once which is pretty true. U r the owner of the blog..U r the FB acct user….When you come across any trash or spam…just hit the DELETE button. N i took her words.
Yeah but what about the law that says if anyone starts a blog under your name, you’ll be held responsible for that? Now..how can we control that right?
what to do… we just got to be careful..
guilty until proven innocent. that is simply amazing how smart the law makers have become or have they lost track of the basics in rules of law?
aiyoh, so scary then! must filter our words before we write? sigh..no more freedom already..
Yea, blogging is fun, but it could get people into serious trouble too.
its getting so complicated nowadays. betul-betul not shiok anymore!
