Music Staff
Yes I know, another piano lesson post. Bare with me as I’m keeping his milestone as remembrance and for future reference :D
Since Ethan started piano lessons 28th of last month, he has been playing the piano first thing when he wakes up in the morning, in the afternoons when he gets home from BaoBei, in the evenings after playground and at nights before he goes to bed. He loves it that much.
He has been playing referring to the notes written on the book.
Today, his piano teacher taught him to read notes on Staff. In case you don’t know, staff are those 5 lines and 4 spaces that you see on music sheets.
He learns about line notes and space notes and how the notes move on the staff.
And then tonight, as I was busy washing and preparing his milk I heard him playing a song I’ve never heard him playing before. True enough, he played the Hippo song. The song he has been longing to play since last week but was unable to as he did not know how to read notes on staff then.
Somehow he comprehended what the teacher has taught him and learned his way through the song…
Watch this video of him playing that Hippo song by reading the notes on staff.
Now watch this video of him playing the same song with the CD accompaniment:
Darling and I promised him when we first got the piano that we will learn to play it together. But Darling has dropped-out now because he is unable to catch up. I have to honestly admit that I’m trailing behind, on the verge of dropping out too if Ethan goes on like this ^_^
P/S: When I first started looking for a piano teacher to teach Ethan, everybody rejected him. Everyone told me he is too young to be taught 1-to-1. Everyone told me to enroll him for JMC. I don’t have the time to send him for JMC as it is usually held during the weekends when I have to be in the craft studio. I pleaded with those teachers to take Ethan in for a one-to-one session but none agrees to it. Some even told me to come back when Ethan is 6 or 7 years old. Until I found teacher Kymberly Chong who not only agrees to teach Ethan but also agrees to do house calls!Â
Thank you so much Kym.Â
You don’t know how much it means for Ethan. He wakes up every morning looking at the calendar hoping it is Wednesday, everyday!
Good! Good! I like musically-inclined people…. Ooooo…he can play the KIng’s pussy??? Muahahahahahaha!!!!!
Sir Arthur!!! >_<
P.S. That stomp dance can be my theme song. Hehehehehehe!!!!!
LoL! Totally!
…and the Hippo too! Hey!!! Why is he playing all the songs about me? LOL!!!
Aww… he loves you eh? Even when he has yet to meet the real you ^_^
Although I love music (singing actually :P), but those music notes are look like tadpoles to me >.<
They looked like taugeh to me… I’ve always been afraid of these tadpoles. Since school days!!!
He’s progressing very fast!!
Hi Kitty,
He practices a lot! He just cant stop playing da piano… :)
That’s so good you know? How I wish Elizabeth can be as interested as him. I enrolled her in JMC but I’m planning to let her go 1 to 1 next year. But the centre at my place got JMC during weekdays I think. And who says he is too young to start? Puhleze lar.
Good to know that Ethan is having so much passion in Piano. My girls are not like that. They are playing only when they are told too. Give him a lot of praise, ok!
Wow, Ethan is a fast learner… he play very well. I’m impressed that he can play and looking at the notes at the same time! My girl memorize all the notes and she doesn’t really know how to read notes.
