Why throw oranges on Chap Goh Mei?

It’s Chap Goh Mei peeps! Happy Chap Goh Mei to all! Who’s gonna throw oranges tonight? Who’s gonna fish them out? Do you know that only Malaysians do this? All these while I thought the practise of throwing oranges during Chap Goh Mei originated from Mainland China or what.. but recently found out that our Malaysia BOLEH spirit came out with that! o.O

Anyway… as I was wishing everyone on FB Happy Chap Goh Mei and complaining that I have no oranges to throw, out came comments that somehow lead to the theory that girls throw oranges according to their ‘size’ and there is a new trend of throwing bananas! Really kah?

If the fruit per size theory is true, my cousin Kym suggested that all girls should throw at least a size or two bigger so as to con those guys! LoL! Very true! And then I imagined that all those super long bananas are going to fly off the shelves today! My friend Jonathan even commented that it will be a pool of grapefruits and pomelos tonight that he might want to set up a stall selling fruits! hahaha..

Then there is that dude who commented of Pisang Emas! OMG! Of all the bananas in the world, why lah Pisang Emas? LMAO!

Whatever the reason for us to be throwing oranges and bananas, just let it all be for the fun of it. Just ensure no fish will be choked to death as a result of all these..
