The Nyonyas In Kebayas
No, it’s not the Bananas In Pyjamas but it’s us Nyonyas In Kebayas :D Remember I blogged about my family members being involve in the opening (and closing) ceremony of SUKMA XIII 2010? Well, I managed to persuade Darling to bring me back to Melaka that weekend and I arrived just a couple of hours before the bus came to take them to the Hang Jebat Stadium.
Here was what happened that Saturday (12/6/2010)
4pm
Arrived Malacca
4.30pm
Helped Mom and niece with their make-up. They already had their hair done so I just help them apply some light make-up. Played a lot with mascara though :D
5pm
Cousin Jill came to collect her kebaya and told me there are still 2 places vacant and asked me to join them. I was so tempted and excited. But knowing that I had to go at 6pm and will only be home after midnight, I had to decline.
Darling saw the look of disappointment in me and suggested the craziest idea ever. He suggested for me to be dolled up in a kebaya too just for the sake of photography and fun. I brushed off the idea initially but after a lot of pestering from all parties, I quickly grabbed my Mom’s kebaya and an Aunt’s kain. Mom helped with the kerongsang (brooch) and I pinned a single purple orchid on my hair :)
5.30pm
All done and set to go. Borrowed Mom’s kasut manik and went outdoor to take some group pics.
6pm
The bus came and I bid farewell to them. Changed to my spaghetti top and shorts and went motor riding with Darling and Ethan :D

Nyonyas at the bus stop :D
In case you are wondering how the Nyonyas cross the road, well.. here’s how :P
Yeah, you might laugh at me for doing what I’ve done but let me tell you this. It’s not always that I get to dress up in a kebaya. I don’t even have my own kebaya. This is only the second time in my life wearing a kebaya. :D
