To go or not to go.. that is the question..

Ethan has not gone to school for 3 weeks now. Nothing major, just that we’ve been really busy so school can wait. After all, he’s not even 3 years old.

But one thing I realised during the past 3 weeks was, he is so much better behaved now. The one thing I fret when he started school earlier this year was he brought back with him the bad habits from school. You see, the class that he attends also caters for special needs kids. The hyper active kids will go around throwing tantrum and yelling at the top of their lungs. Ethan is not aware that these kids are special. He imitates them at home. He’ll yell and cry for no apparent reason.

I had to hold his head and look him in the eyes to tell him to stop. It works with me but when Darling comes home from work all tired and Ethan began to yell and cry like that, Darling gets really agitated.

This 3 weeks have been a very peaceful week with Ethan back to his old self – happy, cheerful, loving and obedient. We did LOTS of arts and crafts together. I am enjoying every moment with him at home.

Sigh.. I will HAVE to get back to work eventually and Ethan will definitely follow me back to class. And he will be back to that rascal mode by then…

Sometimes I think I should stop him from going, but then, life is like that. It is up to us parents to ‘retrain’ him once he is back home. I cannot shield him under a coconut shell all his life. I’ll just have to let him go and hopefully one day, he’ll realise what is right and what is wrong…

hmm.. well im glad dat u let him go.. :) at least he can expose himself to be in different environment. and am sure clever Ethan slowly will learn everything. :)

sometimes as parents we cannot over protected the kids. in a way that, he may behave very well now if not going to school and mixing around with other kids, but as we all know that theres always pros n cons in everything. In this matter, we have to look into what are the consequences on him in the future. :)unlike me, my parents really kind of over-protected me when im small, and now what happened to me? not gud at all. lol. being too "guai" ord, ppl can bully easily. :(

  • //

btw, am d FC right?? hahahaha!

  • //

@Caroline – Who bully you? Foong? Foong……. where are you???? lol… blek :P

  • //

Glad that Ethan is behaving well at home.

  • //

    @Merryn *PENGSAN* liao! haha

  • //

as long as u continue to give him guidance, he will be alright, he will know what is right or wrong.. not to worry :)

  • //

"Meng Mu San Qian", it's a chinese proverb which means the mother of Meng Zhi moved their home 3X for the sake of her son… you could probably try to enroll Ethan to other school(though it won't guarantee that would exempt him for imitating bad habits)! Cheers!

  • //

mmm depend on Ethan current situation.he fully recover then he can go.If not, i think better don't.

  • //

@Voon – Ethan and I fully recovered dy.. long long time ago oso recovered liao.. @Alice – sigh.. if we run, the problem will catch up with us sooner or later rite? I think i'll just need to continue guiding him at home.. @reanaclaire – Yeah.. constant guidance.. thanx claire :)@Mery – :)@Caroline – izit foong? lol.. foong kesian.. migraine oso kena me 'fitnah'

Good one.. RETRAIN….. It happened a few times with my daughter too.

  • //

Ethan is a good boy..but he needs all the TLC that you can give him. So don't let him out of your sight. :D

  • //

don't fear..he has such a good mum to coach him.

  • //

Yeah..continue to guide him..I think he will be fine.

  • //

im sure he will grow up to be a good boy since u guys are loving & concerned parents~!

  • //

With your guidence at school and at home, he will be fine, continue to let him go school ya!

  • //

@Linda – It just has to be done lah rite? We kenot stop them from going to skul forever :D@Tekkaus – Aye dude.. all the TLC we can give :)@wenn – thank you :)@MummyGwen – It's just sometimes, when he throws tantrums like dat and imitate that kind of behaviour really 'membengangkan' .. lol.. but then.. that's all part of parenthood lah kan?@ChrisAu – sure hope so :)@MummyMoon – Definitely, he'll continue school :)

  • //

yes so true… we can't hold our kids back for long and shelter them from harm or bad influence, we can only be there for support to educate and discipline if need be :)

  • //

oh that's great… at least you let ethan try it… it is good that he will get familiarized with that kind of environment… let's just say, it's just a matter of preparation before going to a big school right?

  • //

yeah, you can do it mommy! ethan is so kuai, no worries wan :)

  • //

3 only… A bit too young, if you ask me. But if it's just play school, learn a bit, play a lot – ok lah!!! Otherwise, by the time he gets to Primary 1, already bored with studying…studying…studying…test…test…test…!!!

  • //

I think kids pick up habits and "lessons" from classrooms. It's inevitable. The best that parents can do is discpline them when something isn't right. They will eventually start schooling anyway.

  • //

No problem lah, he is only two plus….still a long way for school, health is more important.

  • //

this is really a hard decision. But with your guidance, Ethan will be well behave. Hang on there.

  • //

If he likes to go to school, why not?

  • //

glad to know that ethan is back to his old self!

  • //

Well I'm not a parent, so I can't really comment much, but I do believe that it is better to expose the kids to the real world than to shield them. Of course, exposure with guidance. :)

  • //

hahahha…you already have the answer to your question :)

  • //

It's hard to let go at times… don't feel too bad. But I am sure he will be guided by Mummy :)

  • //

Excuse me, merryn I DID NOT bully Caroline lah! Her brothers bullied her! Not me!!! : )

  • //

Yes it's good to let Ethan go back to school and train him.Even if he avoids school now and behave well, sooner or later he will have to face the world and will probably be influenced later. Might as well train him while he's still young – easy to train, once older, you can forget about training him! LOL!

  • //

    @foongpc – lol… I know i know.. u very the good, i know it's her bro.. but purposely tease u only.. lol..
