Zoo Negara, KL
Since Ethan enjoyed the
Bird Park trip so much, we thought why not bring him to the zoo too? It will be so much more fun as he will get to see many types of animals. So to the zoo we went…Ticket price is RM15 per adult. As we entered, we were greeted by monkeys..

monkeys

and more monkeys! I was like, what? monkeys again? And let me tell you, they don’t smell too good!

Then we saw goats. Hmm.. goats in the zoo? We were expecting more of like.. wild animals?

Pony..

Porcupine

Tortoise.. yawn! Boring…

Then, suddenly we got excited again. Why? Because it was hippo feeding time and we were right there at the right time! The hippo – waiting for the food to be tossed..

Aaaauuummm! Delicious!
{This is what you look like if you yawn without closing your mouth, kay?}

Then we headed for the animal show. Aiyo, so freakishly many people that day. The place was so over-crowded! We stayed until the mid of the show when we sensed that it was going to pour, so we quickly left the show to find some interesting animals for Ethan to see.

Fish… hmm.. so so~lah!

Finally, giraffe! Ethan was excited to see that a giraffe was actually THAT tall!

And an elephant was actually THAT huge!

Then it started to drizzle and this little fella started saying “
Baby rain, baby rain“. I think he relates anything little or small with ‘
baby‘! Darling had to carry him with the umbrella until his arms could take it no more.

Mommy was always the smarter one, suggested for him to be seated in the stroller and to hold his own umbrella… Now, that’s better!
Overall, I was sad to say that the zoo was in a seriously sad state. After enjoying the beautiful BirdPark, the zoo was quite a disappointment. It was dirty, with lots of empty cages and there were actually so few animals to see. Lack of fund? I don’t know…
I went there when the Penguin House was under some refurbishment so Ethan did not get to see those cute little penguins.
the hippo is cute..
rain, rain go away.. come again another day….hey, the elephant trunk can nearly touch Ethan la.. be more careful next time… :)
the hippo's mouth is so big!!
sigh..that is why i haven't taken ashley to the zoo yet.
Hi Merryn,Many years back we went to the so called "Taiping Night Zoo"…there are animals..but most of them sleeping, some empty cages too.We are so excited to see the description sign of 'lemur' look high and low, none in the cage! What a huge disappointment. Singapore Night Safari is 10 times better. How to say "Malaysia Boleh??"Done what needed :)
Thanks for the review Merryn. We were closed to going last weekend. Luckily tak jadi.
it's been quite some time since i last visited a zoo..i think i went to zoo negara and zoo taiping only so far.. =)kenwooi.com
Fantastic idea to let Ethan hold the umbrella in his stroller :)
I must say the state of our zoo is sad. From my last visits, no standard at all. They even have cows there. I was like huh??! This is a zoo man!Might as well close down.
good lo, bring ethan to zoo, im sure he enjoys it. the penguin hse rite, heard from my frens they went long time ago, also construction time. i think hor, they tengah catch penguin somewhr lo. wakakaka… and its our national zoo le, but sad stage rite? also heard some say melaka zoo better leh, lets plan a trip there shall we? hehehehe…
So many animals on display huh! Enthan must be awed by the sight of the tall giraffe right! I have forgotten how tall giraffe is. :pPerhaps I should go to the zoo again!
We went to the zoo on hubby's and my birthday last year…coz you get free entry on your birthday hehe. Gwen went for free so all of us dont need to pay. :P At least Gwen enjoyed it. Must go to Singapore zoo..it's awesome!!
You are lucky to catch the hippo feeding time. We were looking forward to that but too bad, they didn't follow the scheduled time… we waited nearly half and hour, still no sign of feeding time :-( We didn't realize Zoo Negara was in such a bad shape until we went to Singapore Zoo!
it is always good to bring kids to the zoo… very educational! No book can beat seeing the real thing for themselves. I just hate it when sometimes, the kids see the state of disrepair or hunger in animals found in some neglected zoos…
I haven't taken Sharlene to the zoo yet. Looks like the Bird Park is a better place to visit :)
Haha~ He help to take the umbrella somemore… guai guai!~
so clever, can ho;h his own umbrella.
Maybe you should bring Ethan to the Singapore Zoo. It's 10 times nicer there! I really think they should do something about Zoo Negara!
Baby rain? haha! That's cute! : )
Yes…Zoo Negara is really in a bad state and smells bad. If compare, Melaka zoo is better (at least cleaner). But YX enjoyed himself so much. Got so excited when he saw the real animals!!
nothing really much to see there in the zoo, i can understand you disappointment. I'm surprised ethan can really hold his umbrella! so cute with baby rain!
Merryn, you got a very creative and cute title there. I like it. It is so good that Ethan do not afraid of animals. Next time mommy can bring him to the Sunway Petting Zoo.
