A Walk Up to Batu Caves | The Beauty of Colours
Batu Caves. We learned about it back in school and now I see my sons continue learning about it too in their school syllabus. Though located quite near to us but I’ve never brought the boys there until recently.
We know we’ve arrived when the magnificent sight of the monumental statue of Hindu deity Lord Murugan greeted us.
Points to note:
– RM2 for parking
– RM12 for sarong (to cover up if you are wearing short pants)
– Visitors are allowed to wear shoes climbing up but devotees are encouraged to climb barefooted. You can also climb barefooted.
– There will be monkeys along the stairs. They don’t usually bother you so just be kind and move along. Take care of your personal belongings. My boys had a great time watching the many monkeys along the way.
– There are many roosters and chickens up in the cave so if your city kids have not seen real chickens, this will be an eye opener.
– This is a place of worship for Hindus so do respect the people and your surroundings while visiting

Watch our video to see our journey up this legendary cave.
I went there a long long time ago…before our girl came along! I remember the climb up those stairs…and the stench of the guano in the caves.
How many steps are there? Looking at those steps, I am not sure if I could make it to the top!
