Christmas Menu at Lavo
There is this restaurant lounge and wine bar nearby our place that we hang out frequently as their food is quite reasonably priced. Located at Menara Lien Hoe along Persiaran Tropicana, this resto-lounge is generously spacious with an extensive wine cellar and a delectable fusion menu. Moreover they have this promo of KIDS EAT FOR FREE on weekends with purchase of adult main meals.
Last Sunday, Lavo held a Christmas Colouring Contest for children.
We love their festive coloring contest as it means fun, fun and more fun for the kids. This is our second time here for their festive coloring contest. The first was for Merdeka back in August. Together with our friend Choi Yen and her family this time, we registered our children’s name for them to participate in the contest for free.
Children were entertained by movies shown on the huge projector screen throughout the day. The kids can choose to sit in the coloring area (behind the boys as shown in the picture) or with their parents at the table.
Our kids chose to sit with us as they did their coloring while having their lunch.
Christmas is in the air with Santarina going around giving treats to little children.
Our family with both Santa and Santarina.
While waiting for the boys to finish coloring, we had our lunch here as well.
Lavo has special Christmas a la carte menu and we ordered two out of the four items in it.
We also ordered Santa’s Little Helper; a delicious drink of spiced rum and bitter orange liqueur combined with homemade clove and cardamon chai syrup.
I took a sip of this and exclaimed, “It tastes like Christmas” and it drew laughter from everyone at the table as Choi Yen replied, “I never know how Christmas tastes like!” Seriously, it tastes like something we always have during Christmas. Thinking back, I think it tastes like Christmas pudding … with a kick!
As for food, we ordered the Turkey Hawaiian Pizza and Salted Egg Yolk Turkey Bites from the Christmas menu to share.
Turkey Hawaiian Pizza (RM26)
All time favourite Hawaiian pizza with generous chunks of turkey, pineapple, tomato and finished with BBQ sauce and fresh parsley.
Salted Egg Yolk Turkey Bites (RM15)
The salted egg yolk craze is still going strong here with this bite sized marinated turkey deep fried to golden perfection and coated with irresistible salted egg yolk sauce. I love this a lot. It suits my taste bud perfectly. Totally would recommend it should you dine here this festive season.
Besides dishes from the Christmas menu, we also ordered food from their everyday a la carte menu.
Premium A9 Rib Eye Steak 220g (RM50)
Choi Yen and hubby shared this delicious melt in the mouth prime steak. They cut me a slice to try and I love it.
Lavo’s Signature Premium Lanz Finest Lamb Rack 240g (RM50)
I had this impressive juicy rack of lamb with deep reddish pink goodness. Eaten with the classic port wine sauce, made by adding port wine to a basic demi-glace is an excellent accompaniment for the lamb.
Linguine Al Cortoccio (RM28)
Al dente linguine and fresh seafood tossed in tomato and oven baked. We spotted scallops, prawns and shellfish among others in this linguine ocean.
Baked Salmon (RM30)
Oven-baked salmon fillet wrapped in a buttery puff pastry, served with a side of creamed spinach and hearty mashed potatoes.
Ayden enjoying his free meal of nuggets and fries.
Lavo attracts a huge crowd over the weekends with their Kids Eat For Free promotion.
Kids Eat For Free on weekends from 12pm to 6pm with purchase of adult main meals promo.
Santa has also specially selected Château Les Hauts Conseillants, Lalande-de-Pomerol 2012 at a special price of RM315++ instead of the usual RM375++ this festive season.
A wine full of silky, elegant raspberry and black cherry fruits with hints of liquorice with a velvety finish.
We opted for their fresh juices instead as we have already had Lavo’s special Santa’s Helper (that tastes deliciously like Christmas) earlier.
After lunch, while the judges looked through all the submission for the coloring contest, a fun game was organised for the children.
I was surprised that little Ayden is actually able to balance the pingpong ball on a spoon in his mouth and transfer them from Point A to Point B.
The children did well as a team and won the second prize. They won a huge hamper which they shared among themselves.
Back to the coloring contest, as expected the boys did not win anything
Nevertheless we had lots of fun that evening with great food and superb company.
Lavo may be a haven for wine hunters but it is also home for families to dine together especially over the weekends. The Christmas special a la carte menu is available until 31 December 2017.
Ayden is so slim and tall now! Wahhhhh!!!! Pretty Santarina! Pweeet!!! Pweeeeettt!!!
Ooo. That one pretty and sexy santarina.
Nice event and lunch. The Turkey Haiwaiian pizza looked delicious to me.
Merry Christmas to you and family.
I thought this place is a pub but then who knows that it is so children friendly!
You are so imaginative to describe the Christmas special drink tasted like Christmas, hehe :P
