Cook with Ayden and Ethan: Chicken Kurma
It’s the school holidays so the boys have plenty of time to experiment on new dishes.
The dish they cooked today is a popular malay dish especially during kenduri and bulan puasa. We never know it is this easy to dish this out. Now that we know, we will definitely be cooking this frequently.
Ayam Kurma
Ingredients:
24gm Chicken Kurma Paste (add water and mix into a paste)
8 Chicken drumsticks
90ml Coconut milk
2 big onions (1 for saute and another to be added later)
4 cloves garlic
2 potatoes
A bit of ginger
Oil
Water
Salt to taste
This is the kurma paste that we used. It comes in powdered form. Just add water and mix into a paste.
Method:
Slice onion, garlic and ginger and saute them until fragrant.
Add Kurma paste and stir.
Add in chicken and potatoes. Keep stirring.
Add water and cook until the meat is tender.
Add tomatoes and salt to taste.
Pour coconut milk and stir. Once boiled, turn off the flame and serve.
It is super simple to cook this dish because we used the easy way out with the kurma paste. We did not grind our own paste.
This kurma chicken dish is suitable for kids as it is not spicy.
As usual, here is the tutorial video of the boys cooking Ayam Kurma using their Philips All-in-one Cooker. Enjoy!
Never cooked my own, would love to try!
It sure looks delicious. Thanks for sharing.
I love chicken kurma. I mostly bought the Adabi brand of canned ayam kurna or beef kurma when I feel like having then. Never knew it is that simple. Thanks for sharing.
I like to eat chicken kurma too. One more dish under Ayden and Ethan’s belt.
