Gardening Tips: DIY Self-Watering Planter
Whenever I go off for a holiday, I always worry about my little potted plants. The other day while browsing FB, I saw someone sharing a simple way to keep the plants hydrated while we are away. I decided to give it a try to see how reliable it is.
All we need is an empty water bottle.
Make a tiny hole on the cap. Just one tiny hole will do.
A hole this tiny is sufficient.
Fill the bottle with water.
Put the lid back on.
Place the bottle vertically in the pot and cover it with some soil on the sides to stabilize it.
I’ve tested this on my potted plants to discover that a small mineral bottle can keep the plants hydrated for up to 2 days. I’ll need a bigger bottle for a longer period away from home.

Saw this diy in fb too. It is useful when we go away. Like you, I also worry about my plants when travelling.
Hmm. You have tested it out. Look effective.
I just need to make using a bigger bottle this time as I’ll be away longer than 2 days.
Some nervous parents would be appalled that you let Ayden handle the hammer and a screw.
Urm… Krik.. Krik.. Krik…
Do you even need this during raining season?
Yes, cause it doesnt rain everyday. And also this way I don’t need to wake up early every morning to water my plants.
Watched this video in your IG.
Good idea wo! Your boy is very smart too! ^^
I’m so excited it actually works! :D
Yea..I saw this DIY too. What an intelligent idea..hehe. I don’t think it works for my place since many cats enjoy playing in front of my house. I think they will end up playing with the bottle.
This idea came as saver for your coming vacation!
Like that kah? Hmmmmm……can put in all, no need to water every day, such a chore, so boring. LOL!!!
