School Holiday Kitchen Project: Making Popcorn
The kids are getting a little bored at home. We are supposed to go to Penang on Sunday but Ayden woke up feverish. I called up the resort and as expected the reservation department insisted to charge us one night cancellation fee. It is understandable as that is their standard procedure. However, after learning about Ayden, they transferred my call to their Manager on Duty and thankfully, he was kind enough to tell me to ‘look after your kid first’ and cancel our reservation without any charges.
Brought Ayden to the paed and he recovered soon enough but now the Daddy has no leave so we are stuck at home.
With the kids and me wasted at home, I decided to try making popcorn. I have never pop my own corns so this is our very first time. I was quite nervous. Haha.
I used half a cup of corn kernels as I wasn’t too sure if they’ll turn out nicely or not.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup of corn
3 tablespoon of butter
sugar
Watch this video to see how I make our very own popcorn. I never know making popcorn is SO EASY!
The boys got very excited seeing the corns pop!Â
Method:
Melt butter (or cooking oil). Add corn.
Cover the wok.
Listen to the popping sound. It will pop from slow to PARTY ROCK and then back to slow. Turn off the fire.
Remove popcorn.
For caramel flavoured popcorn, melt some butter and sugar in the wok. Pour the popcorns back into the wok and stir well. Keep in an air tight container.
I melted some butter and sugar in the pot after popping the corns and added them back into the wok and stir well to get delicious caramel butter popcorn.
The boys enjoyed it and finished the entire container in just one evening.Â
Should we make more tomorrow? But there’s a lot of butter and sugar in there. Not very healthy wor Â
I tried eating plain popcorn without the caramel. Yucks. Langsung tak sedapÂ
thanks for the recipe! I tried one way before but corn never pop…hehehe
What way did you try that it never pop?
Butter, caramel and salt would be good on popcorn!! Kids love it!
Soon it is school. Few more days to go.
I’m so not looking forward to it neither. LoL. School holidays oso bored, going to school oso lazy. Haha
Good that your sons enjoyed listening to the corns pop in the wok and also eating them.
Yeah. And best of all is I can DIY at home. No need to be buying popcorns anymore :) At least I can control the sweetness if I do my own.
Hope he recovered already and you guys can resume your staycation !
He is okay dy but the Daddy doesn’t have leave anymore so we are all stuck at home. Nevermind, wait for the next holidays.
What corn is that? Can use the type people use to feed chickens one?
You try la with the chicken feed, you’ll get popcorn chicken instead :D
Oh so easy to make pop corns!! Make some for me next time! :)
Alamak it is so easy so you should DIY la..
Popcorns!
Yummy!
So easy….but I never make that at home. We always have that in cinema. LOL
I’ll have a thick caramel coated pop corn if I make this!
Loved this school project. I always watch movies with some good companies: popcorns :) Thanks for sharing.
