The 3 Most Tiring Parts of Being a Stay At Home Mom
Growing up, though my Mom did a great job of staying home and taking care of us, it was never in my plan to be like her. I was always that free-spirited person who prefers not to be tied down with chores (especially house chores) and even more horrifying – child care! I much prefer to be working and be someone prominent in the corporate world.
Even until the day I delivered Ethan I was determined to put him in the care of my parents but things changed after I took care of him for the entire month during my confinement. I grew so attached to him that I could not imagine leaving him in the care of others just so I can get back to work.
I quit my job to be a stay at home mom from then onwards. It has been almost 9 years and I am now a stay at home mom to not one but two extremely active boys. Though I am happy to be there for them all the time and witness every milestone achievements, I must admit it can be tiring at times.
The most tiring part of being a stay at home mom is of course the never ending house chores. It comes to the point that I sometimes wonder why I even bother. I mean, it always ended up messy again after a while so why must I even start?
Seriously it is NOT EASY cleaning up with a little koala attached to you at all times! Ouch my backbones! Am I decaying? Are my bones deteriorating? Why am I experiencing discomfort?
Cooking is also one of the least favourite chores of mine. I don’t mind cooking if I am alone in the kitchen and have all the time in the world but having to do that with the little one around is really a headache.
This is how I handle the mortar and pestle; with Ayden secured behind the mask so the garlic paste won’t splash into his eyes >_<
Even when I am cooking I have to constantly look out for him or he’ll end up high on the door grill, not knowing how to get down!
Doing the laundry and cleaning up after the kids can also be tiring. All that bending down is really taking a toll on my spine.
I am a breastfeeding mom. I tried to wean Ayden off but look what he did! He offered the bottle back to ME! -.-
Breastfeeding requires extra demand from our body and if we do not take good care of ourselves, our bones may be affected. A breastfeeding mom lose 3 to 5 percent of her bone mass during breastfeeding, although we recover it rapidly after weaning.
The concern here is I have yet to wean Ayden off and to top it with the strenuous everyday chores of a stay at home mom, I get tired easily and am experiencing backache frequently. Healthy calcium levels are critical for maintaining bone and muscle health and I know it is important for me to take extra care of my bone density before it becomes a major issue.
A visit to the nearest pharmacy and I was recommended to take this health supplement – Blackmores Calcium+D3
Getting enough calcium and vitamin D is essential to building strong, dense bones and keeping them strong and healthy as we age. Without vitamin D, our bodies cannot effectively absorb the calcium and Blackmores’ new formulation of Cal + D3 have 600mg of Calcium with 500iu of Vitamin D3. This new formulation helps with absorption of calcium and prevents osteoporosis.
All that is needed for me to maintain healthy bones, muscles and bone density is to take ONE Blackmores Calcium+D3 tablet ONCE daily with my meal.

I am a mom to two active boys. I want to still be able to participate in their daily activities hence I am taking better care of myself with the proper health supplement.
I don’t want to miss a thing when it comes to my boys.
Good to take care of yourself. I think I should take some calcium tablets too but I have been super lazy to go out and buy. Haha.
Kudos to you for getting the boys involve in your daily chore. If me, I would chase them out. Haha.
I understand how you feel. Tired at the end of the day yet satisfying because you did it and tomorrow is another day.
I would chase them out of the kitchen if the Daddy is around. But if he is not, then I’d prefer for them to be where I can see them. You know, my boys are a little rascal :D
Same here. When we had our girl, my in-laws kept insisting that we left her there – day and night. Of course, I refused – told my missus, like that, better don’t have any children. It was not easy, juggling work and taking care of a baby and it did not help one bit that my missus worked irregular hours, on shifts so when both of us were at work, we had no choice but to leave our girl with my mother-in-law…and often, I had to manage alone. But looking back, it was worth every minute of it!!! Those were the best years of our lives!
Yes, yes. good to take calcium supplements…especially ladies, they say. Osteoporosis, especially those who do not take a calcium-rich diet – milk, fish, eggs…all those.
It’s great that you took care of Mel yourself. I can see what a doting father you are.
Yes, ladies are more prone to osteoporosis so I heard. Especially petite Asian ladies like me :(
Wah, you are a super woman to be doing housework with Ayden on your back. You must take more of this supplement to have stronger bones.
I am taking it daily now. Need to stay strong as Ayden is getting heavier. Haha.
The first two pictures really “keng”. Haha! You can mop the floor while Ethan hangs on to you like a koala and you can pound stuff on the mortar and pestle while he’s in front of you.
Have you tried your own milk before? I heard it tastes quite good but I personally never tried it before. I had a chance once when a female coworker offered me her milk (she pumps and keeps the frozen milk in the office fridge) but she’s technically my boss (she manages the entire company) so I declined coz I didn’t want it to be weird later.
LoL! Why did your coworker offered you her milk? OMG. Even my hubby won’t want to try my milk.
I tried my own milk once. It is very sweet. Taste almost like coconut water. And because I am still producing milk, I need to be supplemented to stay strong and healthy :)
Ermm…I think I need that calcium. My spine has been aching for the past weeks and killing me. I barely can sleep well too due to pain. I wonder if I see doc, what they will recommend. Hahah
Oh dear. That is bad. It is disrupting your sleep. You better get it checked soon.
I always respect stay house mom like you, manage a family, doing all the house chores definitely more tiring that working in any corporate. Salute!
Yeah, there are times I wish I am in the corporate world with friends and life of my own. But when I see the boys sleeping peacefully at night, I am glad I made the decision to stay home for them but then they wake up the next morning, all hell break lose again! LoL!
I so miss those moment always meet up with your family up at Genting, Take care yourself.
I miss you too <3 I miss Genting too. Joms, one day we go up Genting together again :D
I had 2 active boys as well named Ethan (29months) as elder and Bryson as younges (1yo)i am stay home mom as well.yeah all the house core need to do,clear up all the messy toys but normally i chosed to do all the housecore and cooking when they have afternoon nap. Doing some part time as well whenever i can. Its not an easy job tbough to be stay home mom.
Jessie,
Mine doesn’t usually nap :( hence will always tag along when I am doing house chores. The most difficult will be mopping as the little one loves to run around so it can be quite dangerous. I now use the wet sheet to wipe the floor as it dries faster, it is safer and easier.
At night when the boys go to bed, I turn on my computer and work on my blog.
