Finally in a car seat again
I’ve been a bad mother. When Ayden was born, I made sure to put him in his car seat whenever we are travelling in the car. We used big bro Ethan’s car seat as it was still in good condition then. After some time (several months), the car seat cover (the sponge) started to tear off. We couldn’t find a replacement for the cover and thought of getting a new seat but Ayden started to get comfortable sitting on my lap. He also likes to nurse during travel so I ended up buckling both Ayden and I using my belt. I know it isn’t safe but I thought I did my best though I know deep down in my heart I wasn’t.
Lately I have been seeing too many horror videos and pictures of accidents involving babies and toddlers not seated in a car seat and I said to myself, enough is enough. We should get Ayden a car seat. But I fear that he won’t want to sit in it so I kept talking to him about it, telling him how big boys should be in their own special seat and so on. It went on for a couple of weeks until recently, he willingly chose his own car seat.
He chose this simple yet sporty and quite economical booster seat. Ayden insisted we fix it in the car immediately after paying for it. Thank goodness he is happy to sit in it.
We’ve travelled quite a lot with that car seat and so far, so good. He is eager to get into his seat each time we enter the car as he feels ‘privilege’ to have that seat. I am having a peace of mind again that he is finally strapped into a car seat.
I am usually a very careful mother. I don’t know why I can let myself to be so careless to allow Ayden to travel without a car seat all these while. If your child is still not strapped in a car seat, please, I urge you to get one for him/her. It is not very expensive. Your child is worth much more. Don’t be as foolish as me :(
give you 5 stars and SUPERLIKE!
My boy’s car seat cushion almost exhausted. So I using soft pillow for his butt so he wouldnt feel pain or stiff for sitting too long. So far Jamie has been good; sitting in car seat till now. The other 2, once they know how to stand, they were reluctant to sit in it. They preferred to sit and stand at the back. Sigh. So I got to drive slow and carefully with them.
But that’s the thing right. No matter how slow or careful we drive, even at just 25km/h the impact can be disastrous. Normal speed is at least 60-80km/h. No matter how strong I think my arms are, I’ve seen videos to show how horrible it can get upon impact so I am realy glad that Ayden is willing to sit in his booster seat now.
Yes, I saw pics of Jamie in his car seat in front, next to you. So good boy this Jamie. Bravo Mummy.
Glad to see Ayden is happy to sit in his car seat. This is a good post to educate parents on the importance of having car seats for children.
Yes, it pays to be careful. A little investment for a whole lot of safety. Nice car seat, looks like grand prix flag.
I know I’m focusing on the wrong thing but… “telling him how big boys should be in their own special seat and so on” really cracked me up hahahaha!!
Maybe one day Ayden will have his own blog and he will narrate his love hate relationship with you and write something like “When I was a kid, I was an idiot, I was regularly tricked by mommy, she made me believe it is cool to be in a baby car seat…” XD
Oh, I thought Ayden traveling with car seat all these while, mana tau~~ aiya But OK lah, at least you realize it now, hehe ^__*
