China Pee Pee Boys
Darling and I went to China back in 2005. We climbed the Great Wall of China. Climbing wasn’t a problem but I almost burst my knee cap coming down from there >_<
Why the sudden reminisce? Because I was cleaning my cabinet and came across this cutie:
I remember seeing many of these cute little terracotta boys in China (or so we thought) that turns out to be clay statues of a naked little boy.
I never thought much about it but just told Darling to buy many of them back as I assumed they must be the hottest souvenirs from China. It turned out to be that these clay toys are actually a tea toy or better known as Pee Pee Boys.
This tea toy is designed to tell you when your morning tea water is hot enough. We need to soak this statue in water overnight and when you wake in the morning to boil water for tea you take it out and dry it. Pour hot water onto his head and if he pees, your water is hot enough.
It has been sitting in my cabinet since 2005 so last night I decided to soak it.
I poured warm water over it first and then soak. Water sipped into it easier that way.
The next day, I took it out and dried it. I placed it on a plate and get the boys to come watch MAGIC!
I poured hot water onto it and woolah, it PEED!
Haha! The boys got so excited seeing this tea pet pee!
I even recorded it. Here’s a video of Pee Pee Boy peeing :P
In case you are wondering how it works, in simple Science, the cool water inside the Pee Pee Boy expands when hot water is poured onto the Tea Pet making it flow out from you know where lah. Fuh, 9 years this fella has been holding his pee, finally tonight, he gets to release it all out :P
