How to get your kids to do their revision?
It’s the exam week this and next week. Today is an off day though to accommodate the UPSR exam. Since last weekend we have been struggling to get Ethan to do his revision. Remember in my post here I mentioned I had not a productive weekend? That was because we deliberately stayed home so Ethan can do his revision but guess what? He did not. He chose to play instead. My blood boiled telling him again and again that he should be in the study room revising instead of playing but noooooooooo, he happily turned a deaf ear to my naggings!
Since we were stuck at home over the long weekend, Darling decided to buy a stainless steel clothes hanger to replace our over 10 year old hanger. While Darling was at the porch busy fixing it, this Ethan just had to go and ‘help’. The Daddy chased him away countless times, telling him to get back into the house and do his revision but alas, after a minute or two in the house, he went out again.Â
Look at his ‘kerang’ tongue lah! LoL!
That entire weekend was a battle between us and Ethan. We kept telling him to do his revision yet he kept procrastinating. He did try to do some revision but he got distracted easily. He can’t stand listening to the sounds of us playing with Ayden. Even if we are not playing, just the sound of us talking to Ayden is enough to drive him crazy. He wants to be in the action, together with us.Â
I tried sitting down with him together with Ayden but Ayden just would not stay still for long. In the end, he did not revise much that long weekend.Â
Today is the same thing. I told him to try revising something since he missed revising for the past two subjects so he did.Â
But not for long as you can see the cheeky Ayden is inviting Ethan to play! Not even a page through and off he goes to play with Ayden.
He failed yet again to revise.Â
And continued playing…Â
And playing…Â
I give up! I guess Ethan is just like me. When I was studying, I make sure I pay attention in class and that’s about it. I don’t like to do revision at home as I get distracted easily too. Unlike the Daddy who has to revise a thousand times to get it right :P
I asked Ethan if he’s ready for tomorrow’s exam and he said yes. I guess I’ll just have to trust him. I’m not expecting him to score 100%. I’m not like that. I always believe in giving a margin for error. Humans are not perfect.
Mummy needs to chill. My parents never force me to study yet look at me now. I think I turn out alright, right? Right? LoL! OKAY, you don’t need to answer that question! >_<Â
Kids. They love this handyman kind of stuff, not those boring things they teach in school. Our time…no choice. Rotan standby at the side there, didn’t want to study also had to kwai-kwai sit down quietly and pretend. Hehehehehehe!!!!
He has his own way of studying. We the parents that more stressful than kids. My girl will have her exam end of the month. She also the easy and lazy type when come to revising.
Yeah, I think you better trust him. It is better he is relaxed going to the exams than having to pretend to study and then feeling stressed out XD
Some more, his face looks like a smart kid’s face, no problem one la ;)
Aiyo, your Ayden is so cute, how to resist – so must play with him lah.
Me too, I just let Sam like that without forcing her do revision for her coming exam but she’s just 5 years old after all LOL
