Breastfeeding a toddler
I did not manage to breastfeed Ethan for more than 3 months. By the time he was 4 months old, I fell sick, my supply dropped and I gradually weaned him off. I blame it on my lack of knowledge and support back then. I feel much regret each time I think about it. Every time he gets sick, I’ll blame myself for not trying harder to breastfeed him.
With Ayden, I was very determine to do better. I got off to a rough start but managed to fully breastfeed him when he turned 3 months. Before that I was still supplementing him with formula. The day I started to fully breastfeed was the happiest day of my life. I happily kept his bottles away as all he needed is ME now.
Nursing Ayden is one of the most satisfying thing that I’ve done for him. The closeness and the bond that we created while nursing is priceless. I gave myself short term goals to achieve. From 3 months to 6 months and from 6 months to 12 months. The moment I hit the 12 months mark, I told myself no more target, I’ll let nature take its course. That means I’ll continue breastfeeding Ayden until my period returns and by then my supply should drop and if he is ready to wean, I’ll wean.
But these days…
This is how Ayden drinks his milk! -.-
How do I nurse him like that in public? I don’t. When he was little I did not hesitate to nurse him in public but now, I make sure to only nurse him in the nursing room as he has too many acrobatic stunts while drinking!
My menses has forgotten me I think. It has been almost 2 years (since pregnant until today) I have been pad-free. Anyway, that is good news I presume as nature wants me to nurse Ayden a little longer. One thing I know for sure is the day Ayden takes his final nursing will definitely be a bittersweet moment. Who knows, my breasts might even fall into depression then as all out of a sudden my boobs are FREE but lost. What do they do now? Is this what pensioners feel like? Adjusting from work life to retired life; suddenly having all this free time with no commitments and nothing much to do? Boobs oh boobs. Just be good and take things one day at a time, will ya? Â
wah … you look so slim and looks more and more gorgeous! :) Enjoy motherhood !!
A nephew of mine kept asking for it till past two years old…even though the wells have run dry!
Pagi pagi show me boobs talk, apalah XD
Some of my friends said, have to let the baby gradually adapt from mom’s milk to baby formula. If change all of a sudden, they might not be used to it and refuse to drink..
Funny post ;)
Happy milking Ayden.
Lol! Acrobatic moves!
I can sort of relate. Not my boobs though :p
ayden drinks his milk like that? he has so much potential to be a professional twerker! hahahaha
Never know breastfeeding will make menses temporary stop :P Silly me~
Wahahaha.. cant help but amused with your post…
I can’t figure out how Ayden drinks in the 2nd photo.
Haha. He drinks standing up while bending down towards the milk source >_<
