Delectable Dining @ The Emperor Restaurant, Dorsett Grand Subang
Remember I blogged about having mooncake feast in Dorsett Grand Subang recently? The one where the little boy sulked big time coz I limit his mooncakes to 9 pieces only? If you don’t, here’s the comic to refresh your memory or you can just refer to my blog post here.
Anyway, what I wanted to share today is the scrumptious dinner that we had BEFORE the mooncake feast.Â
Located at the Mezzanine floor of Dorsett Grand, The Emperor Restaurant is a traditional and contemporary restaurant with private dining rooms and down-to-earth personalized service. The Emperor serves authentic Cantonese cuisine as well as an extensive a la carte dishes and the popular weekend buffet dim sum.
Their weekend dim sum buffet kept us coming back for more. You can read all about it here. Last week, we were at The Emperor not for their dim sum though but to feast on their signature Chinese dishes.Â
Our dinner started with Double-Boiled Fish Maw Soup with Bamboo Pith and Vegetable.Â
Ethan loves anything fish and when he heard that we are having fish maw soup, the word FISH is enough to excite him. This nutritious soup proves to be a winner with Ethan gulping down to the very last drop of it; warming up his tummy for a delectable dinner ahead.Â
Next on the menu is the Braised Homemade Spinach Beancurd with Shimiji Mushroom.Â
This dish goes well with everyone and I must say that I took an extra helping of it because tofu is like the fruitcake of the protein world; nobody says NO to tofu especially girls! Coupled with fibre-rich spinach and the immune system booster shimeji mushroom, this is one dish that I’ll certainly come back for more.Â
The Deep-Fried Crispy Spring Chicken “Fung Sar” Style was served with a lighted ball and we took one each. Marinated overnight with ginger, garlic, and Chinese wine before deep frying it till a nice golden brown, this is just nice for our meaty fix.Â
Stir-Fried Mix Vegetable and Fresh Scallop in “Teow Chew” Style is Darling’s favourite as the veges used are unlike the usual broccoli and gang but lotus roots, asparagus, carrot, celery and more made it such a pleasurable bite plus they are extremely generous on the fresh scallop that is easily the highlight of this dish.Â
Wok-Fried Peeled Prawn with Homemade Butter Sauce is another winner. Everyone’s favourite that evening, this is best eaten while it is still warm. Oh and I really appreciate the fact that the prawns are shelled so we can enjoy it without making a mess. We can also lick the sauce off the prawn and savor the homemade butter sauce without wasting it on the prawn’s shell.Â
For someone who handles the camera to take photograph of all the food before eating them, the shelled prawn dish is really a delight as we won’t end up with messy fingers ^_^
Big eater we are for we had this Wok-Fried Egg Noodles and Fresh Water Prawn “Cantonese” Style or better known as ‘Sang Har Mee’ after all those hearty dishes.Â
Sorry my photography skill failed me here as it doesn’t show how massive the fresh water prawn is when in fact it is really HUGE with lots of roe on it. I took it at a wrong angle otherwise you’ll understand when I say this is one of the better Sang Har Mee I’ve had so far :(
We ended our dinner with this refreshing Chilled Mango Puree with Fresh Mix Fruit & Sago. It’s perfect for people like Ethan who doesn’t take fruits but when I served him this, he just sipped it happily not knowing that it IS fruits he’s consuming! I guess what he doesn’t see doesn’t harm him. I had two helpings of this as I simply love the chilled and refreshing bite.Â
And THEN we had mooncakes…
I jokingly told Darling that we needed to book a room at Dorsett Grand that evening as we are all just too stuffed to walk back to our car to make our way home…Â
We stayed in this huge room last year during my birthday and I was thinking how nice if I could just plop on that bed right after that delightful dinner we just had…Â
A La Carte Menu is available from Mondays to Saturdays for lunch and dinner. For enquiries or reservation please call 03-5031 6060 ext 1954.
