We were at Shangri La Kuala Lumpur recently for the preview of ESCAPE by Celcom Axiata Berhad.

Escape is a new service provided by Celcom’s wholly-owned subsidiary Escape Axiata Sdn Bhd, which allows subscribers to enjoy various forms of content created, produced and packaged to suit a digital mobile lifestyle.

“(Escape) subscribers can watch movies, television series, life broadcasts and events in high resolution, with a unique pause and play feature across multiple devices (such as smartphone, tablet, laptop and PC – as long as they are connected to the internet in Malaysia),” CEO Datuk Seri Shazalli Ramly told reporters at the launch of the Escape service during its Hari Raya Open House celebration.

Datuk Seri Shazalli said Celcom plans to tap into its existing customer base of 13 million mobile subscribers and expands the service in countries where Axiata Group Bhd has a presence including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Singapore, Pakistan and Thailand.

Earlier this month, ESCAPE had signed partnership agreements with 10 local entertainment producers, including Excellent Pictures, Global Station, idoTTV and KRU Studios, to provide content.

“We want to collaborate with more entertainment producers, be it local or international, to expand the content base,” he said, adding that ESCAPE now offers more than 200 content items.

Talking about entertainment, Escape has signed an extremely well-known celebrity as its Ambassador. Celcom customers can guess the mystery person and win on Escape.

Ethan paid full attention as the clues were unfolded during the preview of Escape.

So who IS he? Is he famous? Is he Malaysian? Asian? Maybe even a woman?? Could it be a real panda?! I heard we are going to receive a pair of pandas real soon right? Could it be them?

Content on ESCAPE is available on individual rental or a 30-day and all-access passes, of which subscribers have the options to pay via their Celcom postpaid or prepaid accounts, or credit cards.
