Talent Night Rehearsal
June is a hectic month for Ethan. After 8 months since starting his drum lessons, he sat for his Trinity Grade 2 Drum Exam earlier this month and coming end of this month, he will be performing in the first ever Talent Night organised by his drum school, Piano Station.
They had a full dress rehearsal last Saturday at Sunway Mas Community Centre. I was told it was a full-dressed rehearsal but I see performers coming with singlets and slippers! >_<
We arrived slightly earlier than 7.30pm and the performers were then arranged to be seated at a special corner away from their parents. That arrangement itself took up quite some time so I know the show will start later than scheduled. When I look at the seating arrangement, Ethan was seated at the last row and I can foresee that his band will be the last performing band for the night. I was already worried then as I know it will take another 2 hours or more before it will be his turn to perform but I wait to see how it goes.
Ethan was very independent, happily seated there with his new found friends without us. That was his first time meeting the rest of the students/performers as they don’t get to see each other during normal lessons as their lessons are all conducted on a one-to-one basis.
2 hours come and go and it was already past 10pm. Ethan was fighting off drowsiness as he usually goes to bed latest by 9.30pm. I guess they’ve overlooked the fact that Ethan was one of the youngest performers there yet they scheduled his band to perform right at the very end of the night. It is quite impossible to make a soon to be 6 year old sit through the entire night before he finally gets to perform while the older ones are all done with their act.
Nevertheless, Ethan persevered and kept on waiting and yawning the night away. One of the guitarist from his band who is 12 years old left before the act though :(
Finally around 10.15pm, it was finally their turn to go on stage.
Ethan’s drum teacher, Encik Mazlan helping to adjust the drum for Ethan. That mini drum set was brought up stage specially for Ethan. No other drummers play on that drum set except Ethan. His teacher wanted him to play on the mini drum set.
Can you spot the little drummer boy right smack in the middle?
Ethan begin the set with a drum solo performance and then with the rest of the band they performed Maroon 5’s She Will Be Loved. They played well considering that they’ve never got the entire band together to jam together to this song.
They played to this audience, the performers’ parents! Hehe!
Anyway, Ethan said he had fun. I can see that he was really excited as he really loves performing. It was a very good experience though I really wish that they had arranged his slot differently but what can we do as to make any show a success, it requires a whole lot of teamwork and here, it is crucial to instill patience and cooperation in Ethan.
He knocked out immediately upon entering the car and refused to wake up upon reaching home so we let him sleep like that. Our Man of Steel is defeated :P
The actual Talent Night will be on the 29th and Ethan is already looking forward to it again :)
Aiyor!!!!!! So few people! Why you did not promote the event…get all blogger-friends to attend? Never mind, Ethan. You’re gonna be a big star some day! Three cheers!
Rehearsal la.. For what so many ppl? Lagi kacau. Wait la until the actual day ^_^
The mini drum set so cute!
It is right? When we wanted to buy Ethan a drum set, we were contemplating to buy this mini one or the full sized drum set but after much thought, we decided to get the full sized ones as if we get the mini drum set, we’ll need to upgrade it in a couple of years when Ethan grows bigger.
But for now, the mini one suits him so well!
fuyo memang talented, 8 months already? i remember you were blogging about Ethan going to drum class earlier ago, gosh, time flies
Yes Ken,
8 months already. Time really flies right?
Wow…Ethan is a star! Aiyo kesian him..so tired.
He was tired but the good news is the organizer just told us that on the real Talent Night, his slot will be pushed forward! Yeay, no more waiting until the end for his gig! :D
Ethan is such a talented boy, mummy and daddy must be so proud!
Love his Superman shirt!
We are glad he’s enjoying drumming so much and yes, we are proud of him. His Dad bought him the Superman shirt and the pants was bought just hours before the rehearsal! LoL!
Wow..Ethan a rock star!! All the best
Thank you Yee Ling :)
His perseverance in getting a job completed deserves a praise. Yea, bring more people to attend in the actual show. I’m sure Ethan will do you proud.
As parents, we are the happiest when we see him happy and I can see that he is really happy when he is on stage, performing :D
Not a good arrangement, making Ethan’s band to perform last… But I’m thinking.. Probably they reserve the best for the last.. hmm..
Hehe.. the organizer have just told us that on the actual day, they’ll push Ethan’s gig forward so that he does not have to wait until the end to perform ^_^
On the real day, it might help if Ethan takes a longer afternoon nap so that he can show his POWER during the performance! All the best!!
That’s the problem Claire,
This boy of mine won’t nap hence the early bedtime. He stopped napping since he was TWO! >_<
so talented this Ethan.. you must be so proud
Isaac,
Every parents will be proud of their child no matter what they are :)
there must be a reason why his part was arranged as the last one, the best one is always the one to end the show right?? and Ethan has his very own personal drum set, hey, not bad.. but as long as Ethan is happy that would be the most important thing.. :)
We don’t know what was the reason for that arrangement but the organizers just told us that on the actual night, Ethan’s gig will be pushed forward so he does not have to wait until the end to perform ^_^
Well done the boy of steel, keke. He is really talented and of course need to thanks to mommy effort too.
