Family Dim Sum Brunch at The Emperor, Dorsett Grand Subang
Last Sunday we were in Dorsett Grand Subang in conjunction with their Family Dim Sum Brunch promotion at their award-winning restaurant, The Emperor. This was not the first time for us dining here as we were here last year during my birthday stay and dine celebration. You can read all about it here.
The first thing that caught Ethan’s attention was the “Kid’s Corner” where baby-sitting service and fun activities are available for children.Â
The very first time when Ethan entered the Kid’s Corner, the clown said to him, “Once you are in here, you can’t get out, okay?” Ethan freaked out and ran to me saying, “Mummy! The clown said that once I go in there, I won’t be able to get out again!!” LoL! What the clown meant was once the children are in the Kid’s Corner, the staffs will look after them and won’t let them off until their parents come to pick them up! Once Ethan is clear about that, he went happily into the Kid’s Corner ^_^
Here he is happily smiling, waiting anxiously for his balloon gun.Â
The Clown also gave the children some toys to play with. There are also sand art activities and more for children.
After spending some time at the Kid’s Corner, I managed to coax Ethan to have some food! That’s the thing about kids, once they get to play, they’ll forget everything about eating..Â
I started my brunch with this Honey White Fungus Sweet Potato drink. It’s bursting with ginger goodness and this is just great to warm up my tummy before I indulge further.Â
I went straight to the pastry corner to get the above selection while Darling dig into the main dishes.Â
Darling’s choice: Spinach Beancurd with seasonal vegetables, Chicken Noodles, Grass Prawn and Mixed Vege Teochew Style
Ethan on the other hand, had his favourite Mini Glutinous Rice.Â
He was still too excited to eat but still obediently had a few bites before going off to the Kid’s Corner to play some more.
Ethan had this refreshing Longan Sea Cucumber in between play.Â
Now let’s see what are my favourite among the many choices there that day.Â
No 1 goes to this Char Siew Pau. Nope, it’s not PORK as The Emperor, Grand Dorsett is a Pork Free restaurant. It’s chicken char siew pau but it’s soooooo good! I had the entire basket which consists of 3 paus all to myself!Â
No 2 goes to this Prawn Siew Mai. Every diner there that afternoon voted that this is one of the best selection. It ran out very fast but the kitchen kept replenishing it quickly and I really applaud them for that.Â
No 3 goes to the Vegetable Dumpling. Love how translucent it is!
As for the main dishes, my favourite has got to be the Mini Beef Steaks! Homaigawd, those mini beef steaks are so good they are not tough at all! So tender and juicy I had the entire plate to myself as Darling and Ethan do not take beef (such a waste!).Â
Mini Beef Steak
More dim sums for all.. Ethan loves the fish balls. He is a fish ball fan!Â
These are just part of what we had that Sunday. We ate quite a lot considering Ethan was no where to bug us! >_< (feeling quite guilty pulak!)
I finished off my brunch with this cooling ‘turtle jelly’ if I’m not mistaken. I dunno what it is called but what I know it is some kind of herbal jelly right?Â
Overall, it was a nice and peaceful brunch we had with the kids taken care off. Ethan had a great time too as for the very first time, he wasn’t bored dining with us for hours! If you wish to dine in peace, you can do so every Sunday and Public Holiday as the Kid’s Corner are only open on those days.Â

I thought I had a great brunch but what caught me off guard was when Ethan suddenly appeared with a balloon flower in his hand and whispered to me, “Happy Mother’s Day”. Aww.. I melted and gave him a big, big hug. Despite playing and enjoying himself, he still remembers ME! Lagi guilty now the Mommy for eating alone without her kid! LoL!
My great brunch immediately turned into the PERFECT brunch when Ethan presented me that balloon flower! <3
Being a mother means your heart is no longer yours, it always comes back to the little precious and Ethan said he had a whale of a time playing and eating like a King here at The Emperor <3
gosh… CLOWNS! I remember i used to be so afraid of clowns as they seemed too ugly to me, i don’t shake my hands with clowns either (when i was at Ethan’s age), ewwwww
nice… next time can go… actually if I go with my family, with 3 adults and my mum 50%.. it’s almost the same as what I eat / pay to some places too… so, ok..
Ok..going to ask Hubs to bring me eat dim sum this weekend.
