Maximising time with your family
Back in the old days, it was easier raising a family. Every member of the family has a role to play. The father being the sole bread winner while the mother cooks, cleans, slaves… And without the need to force, the kids will be doing their chores too.
Simple task like washing the toilet and mopping the floor are often done by the kids as the mother needed to make sure there is food on the table for her husband and each and every 9 of her kids (okay so maybe not all families then have 9 children but I’m just saying ok? :P) and also clean clothes for them to wear. The mother also needed to fetch water from the well. There was rarely piped water back in those days right?
Task like cleaning the loo is always done by the kids.
Mopping is also done by the kids.
Back then, the kids can help a lot as they don’t do much at home.
They even helped in the preparing of the ingredients for cooking so the mother can quickly dish out hot and nutritious food on the table.
These days, not only do the kids need to go to school at a very young age, they are also burdened with home-works each day.
As if the endless home-work is not enough, they are also occupied with other activities such as..
Music Lessons:
Most urban kids will either learn the piano, drum or guitar while some will take up violin and more.
And then there are extra language classes, karate lessons and so on.
So families these days lead a very busy lifestyle. The fathers are no longer the sole breadwinner of the house. The mothers work too. And in the craziness of their hectic lifestyles, the last thing the mothers want to do when they get back home is to pick up the broom and clean the house. It makes more sense for them to get cleaning services so they can spend whatever left of their limited time with their family instead of slaving at home.
Shopping is a rare treat on busy weekdays. It is often saved for weekend affairs. But come weekend, the road leading to the mall will be so packed and it is often impossible to find a parking spot that many people nowadays prefer to do online shopping where they don’t even need to leave the house and everything is done with just a click of a button.
We are getting so busy that it scares the heck out of me. If we don’t slow down to breathe a little, we might end up spending our next vacation virtually!
Set your priority straight and manage your time wisely. Let others help you do what you can’t. Family comes first and don’t ever let your busy lifestyle effect your relationship with your spouse and children. They are the reason you are working so hard (to ensure better living standard) in the first place.
true enough… we got to now work ‘smart’ than working ‘hard’… :D
fully agree with you..
wahhhh rajinnya anak puan! jom ke rumah ku pula lepas ni
>_<
Well…as long as we schedule the house chores properly, it will be ok. :D
Aiyor!!!! Kesian!!! Child slavery! LOL!!! Ummm…send him over! My house next. Hehehehehehe!!!!
Child labour!! LOL! But I think children should be trained to do house work!
I’ll start training Sam to help me on house-chores but she’s a bit lazy from what I’ve observed her so far T_T
True enough…family bonding times is very important. Do not let works and stress impact the affect the household.
Lovely post. Thanks for the reminder.
