Introducing DRUM
This used to be his study room that he shares with my other students.
But we have cleared the wall and gave it a fresh coat of paint.
Installed air-cond so we can sound-proof the room.
Bought a rug from IKEA. Ethan specifically chose that design. It looked kinda tribal to me but since this is going to be his room and he wants that, so, yeah, we got that.
And tah-dah… TODAY the delivery guy came to deliver Ethan’s new drum set ^_^
He was extremely excited that he doesn’t even bother to have lunch but opt to stay in that room watching how the delivery guy assemble the drum sets instead. Unfortunately the throne seat is a lil high for Ethan. We have to buy a lower stool for him tomorrow or maybe this weekend.
On the other corner of that same room, he has his play area with car tracks and all. It is his corner to chill and unwind. Haha..
Okay, now that the room tour is done let me tell you what happens next. The scenario is like this. Ethan has a drum set now but we have yet to enroll him for any drum lessons. What can he do then? Yeah, you guessed correctly – Google how to play drum!
We did exactly that and found this amazing site DrumsTheWord and Ethan started watching each and every one of his drum tutorial videos. First and foremost, I have a soft spot for cute tutors and this guy is seriously CUTE! I love how calm and comfortable he is recording those tutorials, taking his own time, not rushing into things and when he paused, we actually paused with him! @_@
His explanation is that good that I do not have to repeat a single thing to Ethan yet he at a tender age of FIVE can understand the entire thing! Applause for this guy (that I am not sure what his name is but if I’m not mistaken is Rob because he looks like someone that will be naturally called Rob :P)
I can go on and on gushing about him but let me show you his video for you to judge. Watch his tutorial for beginner Part 1.
That is Part 1 only you know. There are lots more and we’ve watched them all! Anyway, after watching Part 1 over and over and over again for 2 continuous days, Ethan managed to drum to this beat:

The last part, urm… I dunno what that is. It just came out from Ethan spontaneously -.-
By the way, I found this useful piece of written drum music on different lines and spaces on the stave that is really useful if you are keen to learn drum.
Understand that and reading drum notes will be such a breeze… ^_^
It’s also important to get these drum practice pads (just place them onto your drum) to reduce noise when practicing at home. We won’t want our neighbours to stop loving us now, do we? :)

Oh finally his wish came true. Wah he is con confident when playing the drum and so eagerly to learn by watching each tutorial online. If my girl has half of Ethan’s afford I would be happy.

That lil darling is doing a good job. Use some heavy curtain drapes only if you keep the room absolutely dust free. Worked wonders with carpets as well dring my band days >.< Neighbours loved us at all times:D
