Corus Hotel : Weekly Themed Hi-Tea
Dondang Sayang coffee house of Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur has recently launched its newly revamped weekend buffet and introduced a lot of exciting new dishes of local and International recipes. The theme last month was The Taste of Malacca’s Best and needless to say, we quickly made our way there. I wouldn’t miss out on anything Malaccan!

What I like about having hi-tea at Dondang Sayang is that children will be able to enjoy themselves at the Kids’ Corner with specially prepared kids’ buffet meal and sand art and balloon sculptures activity. Ethan is kept occupied while Darling and I enjoyed our meal.
Ethan and his favourite KorKor XiangCool making sand art at Kids’ Corner. I always love to see this two together. So sweet :D
Ethan and Dylan having fun completing their sand art.
We take turns to entertain the kid. Here is Darling spending some quality time and bonding with Ethan while Mommy happily eat and gossip with friends ^_^
You are afraid the kid will get hungry as all they do is play and not want to eat? Fret not, the specially prepared kids’ buffet meal within the Kids’ Corner will definitely make them eat as they are so cutely prepared!
Love the sweet, soft and juicy carrot stick! I think Ethan had multiple servings of this!
Shhh…. don’t tell the hotel but I had some of the puff pastries, fell in love with them and ended up having somemore! Those are supposed to be for the kids! You don’t tell, I don’t tell, they won’t know! ^_^
Now, let’s take a look at what’s in store for us adults. These are only some of the food available as I don’t want to flood my blog with the mountainful of food pics! And I tell you, they really have MOUNTAIN full of FOOD!
We started off with refreshing cold salad.
Mention Malacca’s Best and the first thing that comes to mind is definitely the Pai Tee. True enough, they serve Pai Tee and Tauhu Sumbat too here.
Not only that, we can have Satay Celup too! In case you don’t know, Malacca is famous for its assortment of raw and semi-cooked seafood, meat and vegetables on skewers dunked in special hot peanut sauce. Too bad I can’t find the kangkung and kerang though as those are my top two favourites when it comes to Satay Celup.
We love the Yam cake here. Soft and savoury with lots of fried shallots!
This Mee Siam is very spicy! I poked a prawn with the fork and gave it to Ethan. Next thing I know, Ethan is flushed red! LoL! My bad! I did not taste it before giving it to him! But this suits me well as I love spicy food!
Ethan had the Satay Celup minus the peanut sauce instead. He doesn’t like peanut sauce in general (I don’t know why). Look at him enjoying the fishball and more!
Clowns went around giving balloons to children. Ethan really enjoys himself here as they are very kid friendly. The place is spacious enough for the kids to mingle around without knocking each other down.
I had a sampling of the main dish – Daging Masak Merah, Hainanese Lamb Stew, Fish fillet, Assam Fish and more. The daging masak merah is very delicious. The rest of the main dishes are nice too especially the fish fillet. I had lots of that. But… there’s one dish that I don’t quite like. It is..
My only disappointment of their main dishes is the Pongteh. It doesn’t look nor taste like what Nyonya Pongteh is supposed to be… It is simply stewed chicken here.
Nevertheless, here’s my favourite. Local kuih! I can go to any buffet and ‘waste’ the space in my stomach for these I tell you!
But Ethan set his eyes on something else!
And he got it – ice cream mountain!
Not only that, we got him the Ais Kacang too! The ice-kacang here comes with the rare atapchi and cendol too! Yums!
Darling’s anxious to try the bubur chacha and I think he did. I forgot to take a picture of it. I even forgotten to have a taste of it too! >_<
But I did managed to share his longan dessert. Very refreshing after a heavy meal.
We were there for the entire FOUR hours. Ethan did not want to leave. He was having such a good time there that we don’t mind to just sit back and relax while letting him play at the Kids’ Corner.
Priced at only RM39++ for adult and RM25++ for children, the themed hi-tea is available every Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays at Dondang Sayang coffee house from 12.00pm to 4pm
No connection with Dondang Sayang in Malacca, I guess (and I prefer Mako actually)…plus I’m not really a fan of hotel food. Prices are pretty ok…good to go and eat and relax and idle the time away.
P.S. Father and son look like twins… LOL!!!
LoL! U nih! Tak habis habis… Pls tell me Ethan looks like me (at least a little)!!! >_<
‘like’!! :D
so long did not eat atapchi already. Din know it still exist in this world. hahaha…
wow very worth it!
I also like those kuih muih, sweet dessert one. Usually I ate those first in a buffet. I love dessert more than main course.
Ethan so leng chai oh! He really knows how to pose! :D
Wah..got satay celup too. KL cannot find satay celup..too bad. The pongteh really fail lah..haha. Good that they have kids corner but the food not much varieties.
Pai Tee comes from Malacca meh? :p
But all the food look very nice…very Malaccan…simply but nice. :D
the satay celup corner looks good :D
