Prosperity Yee Sang at West Lake Garden, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa
Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa embraces the year of the Dragon with the poetic rhythm of spring blossoming throughout its walls in celebration of the New Year with hopes of happiness, longevity and prosperity.
We drove through the gorgeously decorated street to West Lake Garden, the Hotel’s Chinese restaurant.
A teaser before we begin – Dragon Boat Sea Cucumber. A magnificent work of art!
This Dragon year, the restaurant is offering a choice of four lavish menus to choose from ranging from RM1188++ to RM2012++ for a table of 10 people. The most opulent of the menus, the Diamond Dragon menu, is priced at  RM2012++ and features an array of decadent delights fit for an Emperor. The meal begins with the King Pu Boston Lobster Yee Sang, with a handsome amount of lobster meat to whet the appetite.
We had the greatest pleasure to sample the Golden Dragon menu, priced at RM1688++ per table of 10 guests.
We start off our meal with the King Pu with Hokkaido Scallop Yee Sang. The Hokkaido Scallop is impressively extravagant with the auspicious touch of edible gold flakes.
I love that they exclude the usage of coloured crunchy strips and opt for the freshest ingredients instead. Nothing beats tossing the freshest Yee Sang to welcome the New Year!
Ethan photographing the Yee Sang before consuming them. Definitely a foodie in the making :D
Not bad huh? Ethan can so be my official photographer in no time :D
Our meal continues with the propitious soup, the Double Boiled Superior Shark’s Fin Soup with Japanese Scallop and Fish Maw.
Next came the very appetising meal consisting of Deep-fried Crispy ‘Ying Yang’ Chicken. I love the crispy skin and springy paste!
We were then served the auspicious Braised Eight Headed Abalone with Black Moss, Dried Oyster and Cabbage. The abalone comes in huge sizes and while I love this to the max, Ethan however, has not acquire a liking to this delicacy and looks forward to the next dish instead.
I can’t blame him as the next dish is our favourite – FISH dish! Obviously the terms ‘Fish are friends, not food’ does not apply to US! :P The Estuary Garoupa with Shredded Ginger and Dried Fruit Peel is steamed just right to keep the flesh moist and flavorful.
One important factor to remember when we are indulging in all the festivity food is to try eating healthy no matter what. Here at West Lake Garden, eating healthy deliciously IS possible! Our next meal is Steamed Fresh Water Prawn with Garlic and Glass Noodle. The fresh water prawn is so fresh that Ethan had the entire prawn, not even the head is spared!
While Ethan loves the fresh water prawn, I simply love the glass noodle that comes with it.
By now we are all filled to the brim yet we can never say no to the next dish, Claypot Rice with Waxed Duck and Mushroom. No Chinese New Year meal is complete without having some waxed meat and here we have just that and mushroom too! The mushroom lover boy got all excited with this dish.
We ended the magnificent meal with the mouth-watering serving of desserts, the Chinese New Year ‘Nian Gao’ and the Chef’s dessert of the day – the cute little orange paste. It is considered good luck to be eating Nian Gao during Chinese New Year and the ones served here is amazingly fragrant. Crispy on the outside and sticky on the inside, it is certainly good enough to keep the Kitchen God from bad-mouthing us to God of all Gods, Yu Huang Da Di :)
Chinese New Year desserts have never been cuter and tastier :D
We had this Sweetened Lotus Paste with Lily Bulb and Glutinous Rice Dumpling for a lovely finish to a magnificent and prosperous meal.
