How to make charm bracelet
What is a charm bracelet?
A charm bracelet is an item of jewelry worn around the wrist. It carries personal “charms”: decorative pendants or trinkets which signify important things in the wearer’s life. A charm is a small ornament usually (dangling) from a bracelet or chain.
Thanx to Angie of Kelvin Gems, we got the opportunity to learn the art of making charm bracelet..
Looks like peanut but it ain’t easy! Feels like giving up half-way thru but persevered to make my very own charm bracelet. Done in like a lil’ over an hour!!
We’ll need a bracelet chain and clasps to start making the charm bracelet
Tools needed are cutting pliers, flat nose pliers and round nose pliers.
We’ll also need a collection of pearls, dangle beads, charms and T-pins (headpins)
We use this ring to open and close the jump rings when adding the charms.
Use the flat nose pliers to close the rings together.
Slot the clasp links into the RING and open it by pushing it to the side.
Once you have fixed the clasps into the bracelet, lay it flat on the work surface and arrange the charms that you intend to add into the bracelet.
Use jump rings to add the charms into the bracelet. Make sure that you open your links from side to side so you don’t weaken them.
We’ll need lots of headpins for the beads
Slide the pearls and all into the headpin
Once you got what you wanted, bend the headpin to a 90 degree angle to hold the beads together
Leave about 0.8cm length of the headpin and use a cutter to cut the balance away. Always remember to face the cutter and headpin downwards when cutting to avoid stray headpins flying everywhere!
Use the round nose pliers to twist the headpin, making a question mark shape and finally clasping it close
My very first charm bracelet is finally done after an hour or so!
I used Eiffel Tower of Paris to signify our FIRST wedding anniversary, the high heel pump is symbolic to Paris being a fashion city and the baby shoes is us having Ethan 9 months later. The pearls are added for colours.
My charm bracelet. It was a bit too long and Angie helped me to shorten it a bit later.
Thank you Angie for your time and patience. I love making charm bracelet and I am so hook to it now! I wanna make more!!
I also wanna make own one!! :((
Looks great! Does it suppose to bring luck ?
if I hv the time, I wanna try too..
Was it supposed to bring luck ?
Great experience! Is that a free class?
Wow nice… Looks easy :P
wah, really not simple at all eh.. needs to be very concentrated and skillful in order to get that done.. not like your la-la shell just paint with some colors and can become butterfly already~~ :D
it takes practice to make it. I find the part hardest is to curl the headpin to get a perfect round closing.
i think making our own charm bracelet more meaningful because it is customizable. i like your charm bracelet :)
