Flying Firefly to Kuala Terengganu
When Darling first decided to go to Redang Island for our holiday, he contemplated flying either AirAsia, Berjaya or Firefly. Taking a bus to Kuala Terengganu is totally out of the question-lah for yours truly here gets travel sickness like nobody’s business.
We wanted to take Berjaya so that we can skip the bus part and straight board the boat to Redang. But Berjaya was extremely expensive for our choice of dates. It was almost doubled compared to AA and FF. Then we tried AA but the timing is so off. They fly extremely early in the morning. Couple that with the journey it takes from our house to LCCT (+/- one hour), that means we have to leave the house very early in the morning. We might as well not sleep the night before!
Finally we chose Firefly. We have never fly Firefly before and am quite sceptical initially. But the fact that they fly from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (Subang Airport) which is so much nearer to our house and they have better flight timing (early but not as early as AA), we decided to give them a try.
I thought I’ll have difficulty waking Ethan up at 5am but thank goodness he was as excited as I was so nooooo problem! The cab arrived at 5.40am and during our journey to the airport, the cab driver told us that he and his family flew FF last month to Langkawi. He said his wife was so afraid of the propeller that she vowed never to take FF again! That only made me even more nervous! @_@
In no time we arrived SkyPark, Subang Terminal.
So cheerful eventhough it is hardly 6am!
See. Empty! That shows how early we are.
For domestic flight, we only need to check-in one hour before. What is nice about FireFly is the complimentary 20kg baggage per person.
Ethan walking towards the plane. Having flown a couple of times before, he knows the drill by now.
Our flight. We chartered the entire plane, believe me or not?
Ethan boarding the plane.
There! Only us in the plane! Told ya we chartered the entire plane! Gaya gitu! :P
We sat next to the propeller just to see if it is as ‘horrifying’ as the cab driver claimed it to be.
Alas, we took off and… guess what? Okay what! Where got scary the propeller?! It doesn’t even bother me!
Another plus point – we got complimentary snacks! Yeay for tidbits! I truly believe in ‘A little goes a LONG way’ here. Peanuts make me happy!
Our snacks.
Ethan was a bit bothered by the changing altitude. He experienced discomfort with the pressure in the cabin that effects his ears. He was like, “Aargh, Mommy! Kenot hear! Kenot hear!” Told him to ‘blow’ his nose or swallow his saliva to ease the pressure build-up in his ears but he doesn’t know how to.. sigh..
Gave him nuts and he’s back to his cheery self. =_=
We flew on a beautiful day. It was a one-hour flight. No turbulence whatsoever. It was a calm and smooth flight. All those talks about FF being shaky, noisy, scary.. nonsense! We had a very pleasant journey and won’t mind flying Firefly again.
See-lah my anak. Pandai-pandai heading towards the trolleys..
Upon arrival, Laguna Redang staffs are there waiting for us. And our journey continues…

I actually heard very negative comments about this company, but I also heard a few positive ones, I guess they're improving nonetheless.

I would say FF is not bad though for short distance route….come on even AA also dont provide you complimentary drink and snack.
