IpohIpoh @ Sunway Giza
The first time I dined at IpohIpoh Sunway Giza, I fell in love with their assam laksa. Read about it here. Their Assam Laksa comes with a “Taste Guarantee”. If you don’t like it, they’ll take 50% off the price of the dish. I don’t think anybody has ever complained of their assam laksa as it really sets the benchmark for Assam Laksas out there.
My quest now is to find assam laksa from other eateries that may rival IpohIpoh’s. Any suggestion? I’m game on trying… slurp!!

I <3 Ipoh too :D
I very like this corner!
It was Christmas eve and it was jammed everywhere! We thought it would be CRAZY to go out there and be part of the jam so we opt to dine at IpohIpoh again as Sunway Giza is not too far from our house :D
I wanted to order their signature Assam Laksa again but Darling suggested to try other dishes on the menu. Dilemma, dilemma… I very like to have their Assam Laksa but in the end… we had these:
Fu Chuk Yu Mai -RM5.60-
This was the first to arrive and let me tell you, we were shock to see the size of the bowl! I think this is good enough to serve 2 people! It should be called, “The couple Fu Chuk Yu Mai”. You see-lah, Valentine’s day they’ll rename it that! LoL!
This Fu Chuk Yu Mai is easily Darling’s favourite as it is super smooth and the ginkgo melts in your mouth and not the least bitter. According to their Floor Manager, the Fu Chuk is specially ‘imported’ from Ipoh hence the ultra smooth texture. I highly recommend this if you are to dine at IpohIpoh.
Next up was Strawberry-Vanilla smoothie -RM8.20-
A sure way to get brain freeze! My genius Darling took a big sip of it and got brain freeze almost instantly! Good for you Darling! :P
Ethan shared this with Darling. I took a sip and not more. Well, I’m not a fan of sweet stuff so this is just so-so for me. It’s like drinking ice-cream! Haha… But fret not, my two Darlings (the big one and the small one) had no trouble finishing it!
Ethan had the chef recommended Menglembu Ipoh Hor Fun -RM10.80-
I saw large prawns! I tasted it and sure enough, this hor fun is very tasty. If you have kids like mine who loves noodles, I’d recommend this or their Menglembu Clay Pot Yee Mee.
Darling had the signature Gopeng Famous Nasi Lemak with rendang chicken -RM11.80-
We love the rendang chicken! The chicken meat is very fresh and tender. Notice the otak-otak there? The nasi lemak comes with 2 otak-otak. Just nice, one for me and one for Darling. Took a bite of the otak-otak and Darling was on fire! Spicy but I like it! I don’t however fancy the grainy texture of the nasi lemak. Told that to my friends but they said they like their nasi lemak to be grainy! OK-lah.. so majority wins :P
Tah-dah! I had their highly recommended Ipoh Ipoh Burger Ayam with Fried Chicken -RM9.80-
If you follow my tweet you’ll know that I’ve had cravings for Ramli Burger for sometime now. Never had the chance to satisfy that cravings so tonite at IpohIpoh, I’m finally SATISFIED! It’s worth sacrificing my Assam Laksa for this chicken burger! Eh.. no-lah. NOTHING beats the Assam Laksa here!
What is worth mentioning though is the kunyit chicken! Well marinated and just as tender, this is easily MY favourite chicken now!
Like as if all of the above is not enough, we had Grilled Cheese Sandwich too -RM6.80-
One of their signature items too. How can you not love it? Look at the amount of cheese oozing out when I cut them into small pieces to feed Ethan! All the ooowey-goooey is making me happy! Ethan loves this! If you are a cheese lover, you’ll LOVE this too!
And…What is most important to me when I dine is a clean washroom. Nothing is as important as having a clean washroom. I’m appalled by dirty washroom but thank goodness, the washroom in IpohIpoh is clean and NICE! :D
You know we spent more than 2 hours dining there that night? We took our own sweet time savouring each dish and feeding each other :D
Ethan kept himself occupied snapping pictures. I think he wanna be just like me when he grows up! Haha..
He took this picture of me while I was eating the grilled cheese sandwich! ^_^
Last but not least, let’s take a look at Ethan auditioning to be IpohIpoh’s ambassador :D
hey the food looks quite nice to me woh.. but then "taste guarantee" for assam laksa, why just pay back 50% and not 100%?? then that's not guarantee already what~~
Ethan is so cute.. :)
The food looks really good. KIV…for my next visit to KL. Maybe we can meet-up there? Wink! Wink! LOL!!!
wow! delicious foods! n the vanilla strawberry smoothie loooooooooks so nice!! :D
Hahaha …. ambassador indeed.Anyway, why Menglembu hor fun and Gopeng nasi lemak?!! Aiks. Like not related one? Hmm.Merry belated Xmas and Happy New Year.
ipohipoh? What a name? :D
one thing i can said about this place, pricy!!! Well, if to compare, old town started off okay but now they have increased the price with new menu… this one seriously a killer at my 1st visit! But i like their fu cuk yim mai la! :) haha!
