Please, please, piss, piss…
Every evening I will bring Ethan to the playground. Lately he loves climbing up and sliding down the slide, especially the ‘tunnel’ type.
Yesterday, as he was about to climb up the slide, a little girl, 3 years of age, sat there, blocking him. We knew her as she was also a regular @ the playground. She is a special child, she is deaf. I let them be. I stepped back around 3 metres away to see how Ethan handles the situation.
First, he smiled at her. She did not move. Then, he climbed up anyway. Half way through, he slid down knowing that he won’t be able to go thru with her blocking his way. Then, he called out to her. Even though the girl is a Malay, he calls her, “Che-che“. Still, she did not move.
He started to plead, “Che-che, Ethan climb up! Ethan climb up!“. Still, she stood there. Finally, he did what other toddlers will do. He stood down there, crying whilst still pleading, “Ethan climb up, Ethan climb up, please please piss piss” (His ‘please’ became ‘piss’ after too many times).
By now, the girl’s maid and I started to move towards them when we suddenly stopped. Why? Because, as Ethan was crying, he was also showing with his hands the gesture of going up. He was pointing up and crying the same time. THEN did the girl move away, letting him to climb up the slide. After that, they chased each other and raced each other up and down the slide. She is deaf, she only responds to sign language.
I just love to see how Ethan handles some given situation himself. It is nice to see he is growing and showing signs of maturity.
