Multiplication Made Easy (Table 11)
Today’s lucky number is 11. Any single digit multiplied by eleven will result in the double up of the said single digit.
1 x 11 = 11
2 x 11 = 22
3 x 11 = 33
……
9 x 11 = 99
The interesting part is multiplying double or more digits by eleven.
Example 263 x 11=?
Take 263. 2 being the first number and 3 being the last number.
263 x 11
2 + 6 + 3 x 11
Bring down the first number, that is 2
Then (2+6) = 8.
Next (6+3)= 9.
Then bring down the last number, that is 3.
So, 263 x 11 = 2893
……………….
Try again.
8125 x 11
Bring down the first number, 8.
Then (8+1) = 9
Then (1+2) = 3
Then (2+5) = 7
Then bring down the last number, 5.
So, 8125 x 11 = 89375
………………
One more time.
354 x 11
3 + 5 + 4 x 11
3 (8) (9) 4
3894
…………..
Interesting?
Solve this..
2634 x 11
2 + 6 + 3 + 4 x 11
2 (8) (9) (7) 4
28974
Got it?
Try this now.
9627 x 11
9 + 6 + 2 + 7 x 11
9 (15) (8) (9) 7
If the numbers in the bracket are double digits, use the last digit and “add 1” to the previous number.
9 +1 (5) (8) (9) 7
105897
One last time.
81465 x 11
8 + 1 + 4 + 6 + 5 x 11
8 (9) (5) (10) (11) 5
8 9 (5+1) 0 (11) 5
8 9 6 (0+1) 1 5
896115
With this formula, you can multiply thousands, millions or even billions by 11 and get the results in an instant! Try it, you’ll be fascinated! :D
