Rascal King @ 19
Ethan turns 19 mths old today. The first thing he got this morning was a trip to the paed for his DPT booster, and HIB + Polio jab. It came late this time around because he was not too well during his 18 mths mark hence the advise to delay the jab.
I remembered the last jab he took was like 7 months back when he just turned One. He weighed 9.1kg and his height was 73cm then. Now @ 19 mths, his weight increased just a teeny weeny little bit…. he is 9.5kg now. Sigh! His height increased better compared to his weight. He now stands at 83cm tall.
He is so much better in his motor skills. He climbs ladder as smooth as Jackie Chan. He runs and jumps effortlessly now. He can now join the neighbourhood’s toddler football team as he kicks balls without misses most of the time. But one thing I wonder is why he only kicks the ball using his left foot whilst is able to use both sides of his hands to do other stuffs. Physically he is one active little boy. Running and chasing after birds is his favourite past time.
Mentally, he has progress well. He is into putting words together to form a sentence. He is one shy boy when it comes to the loo. Each time I bring him to the loo to urinate, he will say, “Close the door”. This I believe is because each time I go to the loo, I’ll tell him, “Mummy is going to the loo, Ethan wait”. And he sees me closing the door after me.
Whatever he does, I can sometimes see the reflection of either me or Darling in it. We were freaks when it comes to his cleanliness when he was younger, so now, if he sees a strand of hair or some dirt on him, he will go, “EEEEEEEEE, wat’s dat?! … Throw!”
Meal time, he will choose what he wants to eat. He can actually say the word and recognise the tastes of the food I serves mostly because he always ‘cooks’ with me. Just yesterday, he demanded, “Egg and yice (rice)”, but I fed him potato instead. He shakes his head and repeats, “Egg and yice“. And when I fed him those, he nodded his head! Darling and I rolled our eyes looking at his antiques. Once, I just fed him carrot and chicken without telling, once he swallowed them, he told me, “Cayyot, chicken”. I almost faint! His favourite food at the moment is mushroom or as he says it “Mushyoom“.
His favourite game is calling “Mummy” or “Daddy” for nothing. He will sit there and call out “Mummy” or “Daddy” and get all excited when we answer “Yes?”… And to him that is fun…. Ha ha..
To sum it all up, life is ‘easier’ now that we understand each other better. He is able to express himself and understands most of our instructions. Life is just getting better and more exciting now.
Oh yeah, he will gladly hand me his pacifier once he is awake and won’t use them anymore until bedtime again. And often, immediately after he doze off, he will take out his pacifier automatically! Hope this will last and gradually, he will not want to use it anymore. Crossing my fingers here.
Looking forward to every moment spent with him… :)
P/S: He still haven’t master the art of self-feeding using fork or spoon!
